Bell launching Novatel Wireless U547 Data Stick, HSPA+ Speeds up to 42 Mbps
As the 4G wars heat up in the US, Bell Mobility is set to launch their Novatel Wireless U547 data stick in Canada on November 23rd. Bringing in real world speeds of 7-14Mbps and being able to work in the Toronto market which will boast up to 42Mbps, the Novatel U547 is the first HSPA+ device of its kind in Canada. The stick will cost $199.95 retail but there has been no word yet on if subsidizing will be available. There will also be a $10 per month charge if you want blazing fast speeds, users who do not pay the extra premium will have their devices topping off at 21Mbps. This is a good taste of how fast the T-Mobile 4G network will get as time progresses and we enter 2011. However, no word from T-Mobile has been said if they're planning on charging a premium to access faster speeds like Bell has done. [Via BGR]

Verizon 3G Data Plan Pricing Chart Released, Into Effect tomorrow
Verizon has joined many other carriers around the US and have decided to drop their unlimited only data plans for some tiered options. We now have a visual representation of what we will be paying for data on both smartphones and tablets starting the 28th of October. Feature phones will be pay as you go only, while smartphones will have to choose between a $15/150MB and an unlimited option at $30. This is a great option for users who rarely use the data features on their devices ultimately saving them $15 a month. However, if you decide to go with the 150 MB plan and go over you will be charged an additional $15 for each additional 150MB you consume, so if you plan on using your smartphone regularly or even semi-regularly it's advised you stick with the unlimited plan. If you are unsure which plan would be best suited for you, be sure to check out Verizon's data calculator to determine which plan you need. [Via DroidLife]

Let’s face it contracts are not for everyone, they’re binding, and although they offer competitive pricing for data plans (they have to to compete) many users who prefer to go the prepaid route have not seen cheap option plans.
