Verizon shared data plan screenshot leaks – coming soon

We've talked about this before and heard rumors that Verizon is planning to release shared data plans for smartphones and tablets. More important shared family data plans so customers can pay one fee regarding data for the entire family and all of their devices. Latest reports suggested a mid-2012 release of such plans but this screenshots leads us to believe they are coming sooner than expected.

T-Mobile adding contract-free unlimited mobile calling on April 4th

T-Mobile is in the news again with details regarding a new unlimited calling plan that they will be offering up to contract-free customers. The only iPad feature I’m jealous of is contract-free mobile data

Apple unveiled its latest iPad in San Francisco yesterday, and as usual, the tech world and more established media swooned at the shiny new piece of engineered obsolescence. As a die-hard Android fan, I wasn't moved - sure, the screen is nice (even if it's still the wrong ratio) and the processor is impressive, but my distaste for Apple as a manufacturer, developer and corporation is more than enough to overcome any fleeting feeling of hardware lust. But there's one feature that remains exclusive to the iPad that I want, badly, and it isn't coming to Android any time soon: wireless data without a contract.

T-Mobile promotional package to include free tethering January 25

A bundled mobile hotspot will be included in select T-Mobile data plans January 25. Though only available in the 5GB or 10GB data packages, the mobile hotspot included normally costs an additional $19.98 per month. They will be termed as the Unlimited-Premium 5GB and Unlimited-Ultra 10GB data feature bundles.

AT&T tweaks data plans, gives us more for our dollar

AT&T has apparently started a restructure of their mobile data plans and have done a bit of tweaking. My title is a bit misleading and so our the prices. While we'll be getting more for our dollar, we will also be paying slightly more even if we don't need it -- and there's nothing you can do about it. AT&T is nudging the price of all their plans up a notch but are giving us a little extra data in return.

Verizon CEO confirms family data plans coming in 2012

While many family plans are available to share minutes and text messages the option to share data across the entire group is still not available. I'd have thought we'd see this already but apparently not. This week at at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, Lowell McAdam, CEO at Verizon had a few updates regarding the matter. He notes that it only makes sense for family plans to be able to share data and have a single bill and that after 2 years of work toward account-level pricing, Verizon may finally be ready.
