OnePlus teases with ‘promised’ wooden StyleSwap covers

The OnePlus One smartphone might probably reach “urban legend” status because of the one issue that prospective buyers have against it – availability. Regardless of that, the outfit that put out the first retail CyanogenMod smartphone is still pushing with its "promised" textured back covers for the very “rare” smartphone, the company tweeting about "knocking on wood" and referencing to a July 22nd date.

CyanogenMod 11 M8 is out, Settings app may crash

Right on schedule, CyanogenMod is delivering its monthly serving of M releases, now at number 8. This release brings a couple of interesting features to supported devices, at least those that do have M8 builds in the making, including the security fixes of Android 4.4.4, a revamped Settings app and a new Protected Apps feature.

The DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) is, more often than not, brandished too zealously and sometimes with little prior investigation in a "shoot first, ask questions later" style of legal (mis)management. That might just be the case here when Qualcomm issued takedown notices on some Github repositories, including one of CyanogenMod's, but then retracting it later.

CyanogenMod team talks Android L and the wait for final code

Google did something new at I/O this year. They released the next version of Android as a developer preview. As many are familiar with, that release is called Android L, and so far there has only been speculation in terms of what the next Android dessert will be. Some have referred to it as lollipop, and it looks like the Cyanogen team is currently calling it Later.

The marketing team behind new tech company OnePlus really know how to drum up attention for a product that is not even officially out in the market yet. This week, they are digitally raffling off not the product itself, but 2,500 invites to purchase the One ahead of everyone else. But there will also be that one lucky winner who will get to take home probably the most anticipated mobile phone in a long time.
