Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Hands-On [CTIA 2011]

We got another opportunity to take a look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Android gaming phone whilst at a Verizon event in Orlando during CTIA 2011. It was here that we finally got both an extended look at the device as well as an adequate amount of time to make judgements on its form and content. In the video below you're going to see a presentation made by a Verizon representative who shows us a top-down look at the device including a demo of several games that we're very much looking forward to trying out.

Sprint Kyocera Echo Presented at CTIA 2011 in an Odd Display [VIDEO]

Let's talk for a moment about the Kyocera Echo that'll be carried by Sprint in the very near future. Since you've more than likely seen this phone before, and you'll certainly seen it explained at great length again by yours truly when a review model becomes available, I thought we'd take a little bit of a non-traditional approach to this situation by filming from the perspective of someone being presented this device at CTIA 2011.

LG Thrill 4G Hands-On

Whilst having a nice bite to eat at an AT&T event this past week at CTIA 2011, we were given the opportunity to check out the brand new LG Thrill 4G, a 3D capturing and sharing handset that'll be released sometime this summer in North America. Now, before we get too far figuring out how many 3D devices are now on the market, note that this device is set to be the USA version of the LG Optimus 3D, a phone we got a short peek at during Mobile World Congress 2011 - this version is VERY* similar to that one.

Samsung Galaxy S II Hands-On

We've been given the opportunity to take a hands-on peek behind the scenes at Samsung with a fully functional Samsung Galaxy S II phone running Android 2.3.1 with TouchWiz 4.0 over the top. In addition to the hands-on video we've got here, we've also got a demonstration of some of the more fun gesture-based elements in TouchWix 4.0 [as presented by] our main homie Philip Berne. The Samsung Galaxy S II handset is an impressive device - one that I mistakenly call the thinnest device in Samsung's line of phones.*

Samsung Galaxy S2 TouchWiz 4.0 Special Features Demo [EXCLUSIVE]

Whilst at CTIA 2011 we were given the opportunity to take a peek at the fabulous new Samsung Galaxy S2 running with the excellent new version of Samsung's user interface overlay, TouchWiz 4.0. In the video you're about to watch, you'll see our good pal Philip Berne speaking about some of the new features coming in on the Samsung Galaxy S2 via the new version of TouchWiz featured on it. I'm sure you're aware that we're always a bit hesitant to work with manufacturer-added interfaces, instead relying on 3rd party people to give us what we want, but behold this: TouchWiz 4.0 seems like a really excellent addition to the history of Android and we can't WAIT to use it - it and all of its everloving gesture movements for great justice in interaction.

ZTE Style S and LTE Tablet in the works for the US

ZTE is not a very wide known brand but we have covered them more than a few times here in the past. They are a small company that is based in China that have build budget phones that thousands have used. This week at CTIA they announced some exciting news that I'm sure you will all be pleased to hear. They are coming to the U.S. in the second half of the year and are bringing an Android 2.3 beast with a 4.3" screen as well as a Android 3.0 10" Android Tablet with them.

HTC EVO 3D design prevents kickstand, but we have you covered

If you are like us and saw the unveiling and showcase of the amazing looking HTC EVO 3D this week you are probably as excited as us about this device. A beast by any measure coming to Sprint soon. The link above mentions all the specs so I'll spare all of that other than mentioning that it will probably sell as many or more than it's younger brother. This story we bring you news about the kickstand everyone loved on the EVO 4G. Sadly it will not be present on the 3D.

A Hearty Thanks to our Street Team, Business Contacts, and Close Friends [CTIA 2011]

Let me tell you, Android Community, and I mean that like you, all of you out there that came up to us during this convention over the past couple days to either give us a tip, ask us which phone we were using as a primary, or just to say hi: we love you! I shouldn't really call you a street team at the moment since technically you're not taking stickers of ours and pasting them on stop signs - but perhaps soon! We've had a great time meeting ALL of you here in Florida and hope to meet up with you again soon!

HTC EVO 3D Ad released

HTC has released it's first commercial ad for the HTC Evo 3D. The ad takes the phone through it's video playback and record paces and features content bursting from the screen into the third dimension. It also mentions the wireless streaming to TV feature of the phone. The slogan ... glasses off, 3D on ... your mobile life in 3D. HTC and Sprint announced the Evo 3D at CTIA yesterday in Orlando Florida. It's killer feature is the ability to view 3D content without the need of those geek ridden 3D glasses. Using an autostereoscopic, 4.3-inch qHD display and powered by a dual core 1.25 Ghz Snapdragon processor, the Evo 3D not only allows users to view 3D content, but make it as well. It features twin 5MP rear facing cameras that can shoot 720p HD video at 30 frames per second in 3D. The Evo 3D runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box with the latest HTC Sense 4.0 overlay. It also enjoys on board apps like Yahoo 3D for uploading 3D content, and Blockbuster 3D, which allows users to purchase and rent both 2D and 3D content, and games as well. Check out our Hands-On here. The HTC Evo 3D will be available through Sprint later this summer. [youtube JSuD45mRl_o]
