HP Chromebook 11 charger recall detailed by Google

Google and HP have recently begun the recall process for the Chromebook 11 charger. The charger was one of the reasons this particular Chromebook attracted some attention at launch, it is microUSB and similar to the one you already have for your smartphone or tablet. But at the same time, that charger was also prone to overheating and after some "guidance and approval" from the CPSC, the recall process is now underway.

HP Chromebook 11 charger test shows high temp of 140° F

HP released the Chromebook 11 back in October, only to have it pulled from the shelves a month later. The Chromebook was pulled due to issues with the charger. At the time HP had said a "small number" of user reports showed the charger being "damaged due to over-heating during use." While HP has yet to say when the Chromebook 11 would return to an available status, there has been some testing done on one of those chargers.

HP Chromebook 11 replacement charger appears in Play Store

HP officially announced the Chromebook 11 back in early-October. This model arrived as a Chromebook with an 11.6-inch display and while there was some mention of the color options at launch, there was something slightly more interesting. The HP Chromebook 11 used a microUSB charger, just like you would see with a smartphone or tablet. But as we later learned, that caused an issue.

Microsoft enlist reality TV stars to make unreal claims about Chromebooks

In the latest Scroogled ad, Microsoft enlists the Pawn Stars crew to help bash the Chromebook. Rather than go after a specific device, Microsoft is bashing the platform as a whole. While we really do enjoy Microsoft trying to make a point, it’s like watching a toddler draw a schematic for a missile; cute, but it just won’t work.

Acer C720P touchscreen Chromebook now official

Confirming an earlier rumor, Acer has officially unveiled the C720P Chromebook -- with touchscreen display. As the C720 in the name suggests, this latest Acer branded Chromebook is another in the growing lineup. And aside from being multi-touch capable, the display measures in at 11.6-inches and sits with a resolution of 1377 x 768. Perhaps the key here, Acer has the C720P paired with what seems to be an attractive price point.
