China’s Ministry of Industry worried about the dependence on Android

We recently learned by way of a Flurry report that China had overtaken the US in terms of the total number of active Android and iOS devices. While that is a claim that the US will never be able to recapture, that is another story. To the point here, it seems that the research arm of China's Ministry of Industry may not be all that excited about the widespread adoption of Android within the country.

Acer tips quad-core low-cost tablets for 2013

Acer has already received some positive attention for its Iconia B1 tablet, which is a 7-incher that's aimed at the budget crowd. Looking to take a slice of Google's Nexus 7 pie isn't easy, but it seems that Acer wants to push forward by offering new budget-friendly tablets in 2013. Specifically, it appears that Acer CEO Linxian Lang told the China Times that it will have low-cost 8 and 10-inch tablets coming up later this year.

ZTE V987 budget 5-inch smartphone spotted

The folks from ZTE have been hitting the 5-inch form factor quite hard as of late. After just recently announcing their new flagship ZTE Grand S 5-inch 1080p smartphone, we're now seeing a similarly designed budget device that is set to dominate the Chinese markets. Huawei G520 4.5-inch quad-core phone for $225 gets pictured

Huawei has previously only been known for their budget friendly smartphones that were also a bit on the cheap side, but as of late they've been changing their game. Last years Ascend D Quad showed promise, and this years brand new Ascend Mate and Ascend D2 we saw last week at CES are certainly a step in the right direction. One that wasn't mentioned last week, the Huawei G520, has appeared and looks rather nice given the price.
