Moduul gives your LG G Watch a pretty charging dock

Smartwatches (well most of them) are some of the prettiest gadgets that you can own. But if you think that the accessories to your accessory are a bit of a clunker, then you would agree with Aerios, a tech design firm from Australia, that even those things should be attractive in itself. The Moduul LG G Watch Charging Dock gets rid of the cheap and plastic accessories and replaces them with something more aesthetically-pleasing but still as effective as their ugly counterparts.

Bleep charging cable backs your data up while you charge

For many people, their smartphone is the place where they have all their data. Contacts for work and play are in the phone and if the phone was lost or stolen, it would be very bad indeed to lose the data for most people. A new charging cable has turned up on Indiegogo called bleep that not only charges your phone, but it also backs up the data on your phone at the same time.

OPPO launches rapid charging powerbank, car-charger

There are some in the smartphone and electronics device industry that are of the opinion that it is not the processor that is the defining spec of the gadget – but rather the battery. And with a lot of manufacturers failing to balance out great specs with higher capacity batteries – the latest being the Samsung Galaxy Alpha – accessories like OPPO’s rapid charging VOOC powerbank and car charger become obvious necessities.

Samsung lets you charge three devices in new wall charger

Gone are the days when you would just need one USB wall charger since you only have one device that you need to charge. Can your sweat power your phone in the future?

California researchers are on the brink of harnessing the power of human perspiration – yes, your sweat – to generate energy enough to power your electronic handheld devices. This is done, for now, through a temporary “tattoo” which has a sensor imprinted on it that could turn sweat into electrical power.

Qi spec to include resonance for long distance charging

Wireless charging, once seen simply as an eccentricity, is becoming more common as more devices and accessories advertise the feature. Taking the widely-used Qi standard to the next level, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) revealed what's in store in the upcoming version 1.2 of the specification: resonant charging or the ability to charge a device without having it lie directly on the charging plate.

TSA’s ban reaches overseas, gadgets must power on before boarding

The United States’ Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has just been given a bit more leeway to inconvenience passengers on direct flights to the US – all in the name of security, of course. On July 2, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson put out a directive that the TSA should enhance security at certain overseas airports with flights that enter the US directly, specifically with airport checks for gadgets.

It’s a beautiful day outside and you want to just sit on a bench, marvel at nature and post on social media how wonderful it is to be not inside the four corners of your office or school. But alas, your mobile phone doesn’t have enough juice anymore to take a picture and post it on Instagram (#smartphonebatteryproblems). A project from Changing Environments, a company associated with the MIT Media Lab will help you avoid that kind of situation by building solar-powered benches that can charge your gadgets.
