Acer has announced the liquidmini, its latest Android smartphone. Running Android 2.2 on a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, the liquidmini has a 5-megapixel camera capable of 480p video recording, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and an FM radio. Power is from a 600MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor paired with 512MB of ROM and RAM. Storage is courtesy of a bundled 2GB microSD card, though the liquidmini will accept up to 32GB. Dell Streak 7 isn't the only new mobile device from the company; the Dell Venue has also been made official in the US. Spotted in Korea last month, the Venue runs Android 2.2 on a 4.1-inch AMOLED display covered in curved Gorilla Glass, and has an 8-megapixel camera. There's also ActiveSync, Swype and QuickOffice, together with Dell's own Stage software, all running on an unnamed 1GHz processor. As rumored, there are no physical controls around the Xoom's bezel; instead, everything is handled by on-screen buttons in Honeycomb. That should avoid user confusion when moving from device to device, something we've seen happen on several occasions when Android smartphone manufacturers shuffle around the controls order. Acer has pulled the wraps off a new smartphone that runs Android called the beTouch E210. The machine runs Android 2.2 Froyo and it has a full QWERTY keyboard and an optical trackpad. The smartphone has a 2.6-inch touch screen.
Velocity Micro has had some of its cool Android-powered Cruz tablets up for pre-order for a while now. The company is showing off its Cruz line at CES 2011 this week with the addition of three new Cruz tablets to the lineup. The first of the new offerings is the L510 with a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 capacitive touchscreen and a thin design. The machine has NVIDIA Tegra 250 chipset, dual-core CPU at 1GHz, front and rear cameras, 3G options, Bluetooth, GPS, HDMI output and runs Android 2.2/2.3 for the OS.
