Samsung Galaxy S II [AT&T] Ice Cream Sandwich alpha build hands-on

Now that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is out in the wild and the source is available to all we are starting to see a few ICS ROM's appearing for select handsets. This is not a port from the SDK but a ROM built and modified right from the source code. What I have for you today is the highly popular Samsung Galaxy S II running the latest and greatest 4.0 ICS from Google. Remember this is very much an alpha build and not remotely close to being finished -- but it's still fun to use and enjoy as well as show all of you.

Swype OTA update coming soon, brings context prediction and more

The developers of Swype have been on a roll as of late and just last month announced the new Swype v3.26 BETA. Along with the update came tons of changes and even a new design layout for the keyboard. One of the biggest though, was automatic updates right to the device instead of all the fuss that we've had to deal with in the past with Swype. Today Swype has started the first OTA update for their BETA and users should see it soon.

Raise your hand if you love your wireless carrier. Anyone? Consumers fed up with spotty service and limited terms have been complaining for years about lack of transparency and competition, and on November 8th, they might just have a next-generation alternative to the likes of Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. Republic Wireless is a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator that uses a combination of conventional cellular lines and Voice Over IP via Wifi.

Iris, an alpha, free Siri alternative for Android

Even though most of the "new" features in Apple's iOS 5 can be easily replicated by Android's built-in features or free apps, it's hard to deny that Siri is an impressive piece of tech. The natural language engine wowed consumers and press when demonstrated on-stage, and is honestly a lot more exciting that the iPhone 4S's lukewarm hardware improvements. At least one developer has been inspired to create his own version for Android. It's called "Iris," and the alpha version is available in the Android Market right now.

The popular 3rd party keyboard for Android Swype is back today and has just received its latest update. The beta was updated to Swype version 3.26 late last night during all the Ice Cream Sandwich fun. The Swype beta was last updated to 3.25 back in August and we had plenty of information then, and we have even more this time. The main thing with the latest update is automatic updates, no longer do we need to deal with the Swype installer app. More update details and video are after the break.

Swype Beta 3.25 Now Available with Copy/Paste Features and more [Video]

Today the latest version of the popular Swype keyboard for Android has been released to beta testers. While many have probably seen or heard about it already I'll be posting the videos below for you all to see the new features in action. The update is available right now over at the Swype's beta webpage and so far I'm actually really liking the copy and paste features as well as gestures.

FriendCaster Hits Beta, A Facebook Honeycomb App

Oh yea it looks like Facebook finally has an official app for Honeycomb. While it isn't made by those dudes over at Facebook or anything this is the first official app for Android Honeycomb that is dedicated to Facebook (Meh). While the app looks amazing and seems pretty great for being in early stages of its beta period, I've been pretty busy over on Google+ personally. FriendCaster is available as a beta app in the Market now.
