Samsung, Huawei, others form MobileBench benchmarking consortium

Benchmarks are the bread and butter not just of device reviews, but more importantly of fine-tuning and analyzing hardware performance to deliver the best user experience. It is no wonder, then, that device manufacturers are interested in creating benchmarking tools that will enable developers to more properly gauge the device and the platform, and to that end the MobileBench consortium was born.

LG G2 benchmarked as release date nears

With the release date approaching for LG's latest flagship powerhouse smartphone, the LG G2, we've received an international version for some initial testing. That rear button sure is interesting, but we're comfortable with it already after only a few hours of use. HP Slate 8 Pro tipped with Tegra 4 and high-resolution display

We recently saw details on an unannounced HP device sporting a codename of Bodhi. That device was spotted in a benchmark filing report and while there were some details revealed, there was one lingering question as to whether this device was a tablet or smartphone. Well, HP has yet to confirm this either way, however an updated benchmark filing now has this same Bodhi device listed with another name.

Samsung Galaxy S4 tweaked to achieve unrealistic benchmark results

When Samsung's Galaxy S4 hit the market and reviewers hands, it was quite impressive overall. One area in particular was benchmarks, and now we're starting to figure out exactly why. Don't get us wrong, the Galaxy S4 is a splendid device and possibly the best smartphone on the market, but new reports are surfacing that they specifically tuned the GS4 to score higher than usual in popular Android benchmarking apps.
