Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 hands-on: one cool dragon

With MWC 2015 comes new smartphones and devices, but part of the discussion will most likely revolve around the technology powering these. And perhaps there won't be a hotter topic than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810. Not yet out in the market, except for the LG G Flex 2, the chip is already mired in controversy left and right. Does the dragon deliver all its promises without the problems that are rumored to hound it? We fly to Qualcomm's San Diego office to get a first-hand look, and the results are quite spectacular and, frankly, unsurprising.

Today the company has pushed a major update to Google Play Store, which will update the previous v4.0 to v5.0 with new benchmarking details.

‘HP red’ on GFXBench: possible high-performance device

It could be that HP is working on a new Android device with curious high-performance specs. Or it could be nothing. Still, the GFXBench device performance website marked the visit and benchmarking of one such device known only as “HP red”, and listed down the specs for posterity.

LG G3 benchmarked in US on AT&T LTE

Now that we’re stateside, it’s time to benchmark the LG G3. The device may be an international version, but it does work with AT&T’s global GSM bands. Here in Charlotte, NC, we ran the device through a quick AnTuTu test while on LTE to see how it stood up to the rest of the field.

Qualcomm S4 Pro quad-core developer tablet benchmarks and hands-on

Earlier today we gave you a bit of information on Qualcomm's new Snapdragon S4 Pro developer tablet, but now we're back with more info thanks to a number of benchmark tests SlashGear has performed. As expected, the Snapdragon S4 Pro delivered some really impressive results in the tests, thanks to its quad-core APQ8064 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and Adreno 320 GPU. Since this tablet is intended for developers, you may not be surprised to hear that it performed well in benchmark tests, but we have a feeling that you'll be left at least a little impressed nonetheless.

Droid X Gingerbread gets benchmarked

There's been some benchmarks released of the Droid X running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and the results are fairly impressive. The benchmarks were compaired to the previous Android 2.2 (Froyo) results. The tests feature some testing of heavy duty graphics and motion Fx in a game like atmosphere and it received a score of 1796, about a 700 point increase over the Froyo score. That's around a 30% increase in performance. It's amazing what a software update can accomplish.
