HTC will open Beats Audio API to all developers

As far as owners/investors go, HTC is proving itself to be a very gracious one. The company invested a whopping $300 million into the Beats by Dr. Dre brand, giving it majority control of the hardware and software produced. HTC promised to run the company as a separate enterprise while taking advantage of its audio expertise, and lo and behold, it has. HTC announced today that it intends to open up the Beats APIs for third-party developers to use in their apps.

If you believed the HTC line that the Sensation XL would be landing in November, there is reason to believe that may not be the launch date today. A UK retailer called Clove has tipped SlashGear that the launch date of the Sensation XL is actually closer than HTC wants us to believe. According to Clove, the smartphone will land in its stores on October 24 unlocked and SIM free.

The company's total revenue has hit an impressive $4.4 billion, almost all of it coming from Android and Windows Mobile 7 phones.

HTC Sensation XL hands-on [Video]

The HTC Sensation XL has been officially revealed, the company's first Android smartphone to be built with Beats Audio in from the ground up, and toting a super-sized 4.7-inch Super LCD along for the ride. A 1.5GHz single-core MSM8255 handset with 768MB of RAM, all in a 9.9mm thick unibody-style chassis, the Sensation XL does make a few compromises: not least the WVGA resolution display. We caught up with HTC for some hands-on time and to ask a few spec decision questions.

It's someone in the UK that gets the credit (or the blame?) here, folks, for a video that shows off the soon to be revealed (or revealed again, if you count the multiple leaks across the internet) HTC Runnymede aka HTC Bass. Have a look at this video and let us know what you think.

HTC Rhyme and Bass likely for September 20th Reveal

It was all the way back in time when we first saw a trademark list for HTC listing the HTC Rhyme that we knew the Beats were coming. It was back when a leaked specs list was found that we assumed the HTC Runnymede and the HTC Bliss would be released side by side. It was just yesterday when the device known as the HTC Runnymede was said to be launching as the HTC Bass. All of this of course points toward the September 20th launch event that we'll be covering live. All of this adding up?

New details regarding the HTC Runnymede have surfaced yet again and sources are claiming it will be called the HTC Bass. Maybe HTC has been telling Dre to hit that beat and he's answered with some bass. We recently received the full spec sheet of the Runnymede and more on that can be seen here. Who thinks the Runnymede will have a nice bassline?
