At a talk delivered in France, ASUS laid out its roadmap for mobile devices. And in it, we get a glimpse of not only its current lineup but it's future devices as well. And it seems that we have quite a few coming our way.
Budget tablets have come a long way, evolving from cheap knockoffs to decent and affordable alternatives, with manufacturers like ASUS continually raising the bar. The latest such device to come from the company's line up is the MeMo Pad HD 7 which has now become available online for pre-orders for a very low price.
ASUS has unveiled the MeMo Pad FHD 10 and HD 7 tablets. While both of these tablets are in the same family of devices, they will likely each have unique audiences. The HD 7 is a smaller tablet with a relatively low price point while the FHD 10 is larger and should be a bit more powerful. Similar to the other Computex announcements we have seen from ASUS, this one is also missing some of the finer points.
We haven't seen all that much on the current generation MeMO Pad Smart 10 tablet since the US release date was announced back in late-February, however it looks like ASUS is already working on the successor. ASUS has yet to offer anything official, but the specs have recently been leaked. The leak has the tablet sitting with model number ME302KL and an expected release for this summer.
If you've been looking for a cheap budget Android tablet and can't afford the Nexus 7, the folks from ASUS have confirmed this afternoon that their new 7-inch slate is available today for just $150. It's called the MeMo Pad 7 and is essentially a Nexus 7 without the fancy HD screen or quad-core Tegra 3 processor. Then again, it's only $149 for the 16GB model so check it out below.
ASUS unveiled the MeMO Pad Smart 10 tablet earlier in the month and then later released a teaser video showing the features. As of today though, it looks like there is a bit of good news for those in the US market. Simply put, ASUS has confirmed that the MeMO Pad Smart 10 will begin shipping on March 5. Basically, those interested only have a few days left to wait before they can make a purchase.
Having recently unveiled the 7-inch and 10-inch models of the MeMO Pad tablet, ASUS has come forward with some release details for those in the UK. The details include pricing and release dates and it looks like the first to arrive will be the larger of the two tablets. Specifically, we are talking about the 7-inch MeMO Pad ME172V and the 10.1-inch MeMO Pad ME301T tablets.
We got bit of a look at the MeMO Pad Smart 10 last week when ASUS unveiled the tablet during the Thailand Mobile Expo, however as of today we are being given a slightly better look. This latest look doesn't come with much extra in terms of release dates, however it is in video form and touting some of the highlights such as processor and sound. In this case that would be quad-core with SonicMaster Audio Technology.
Details about the ASUS MeMO Pad tablet have been surfacing here and there lately. In the recent past we saw a few retail product listings and press images for the MeMO Pad 10. As of today though, it looks like ASUS has officially unveiled the tablet. The key here, while the MeMO Pad 10 has been unveiled, it looks as if that has only been for one market.
ASUS unveiled the MeMO Pad 7 tablet back in mid-January and as of today, it looks like the first promotional style video has been released. Given the company had been pretty forthcoming at the time of the announcement, we are not learning all that much new in terms of specs. Still, at the same time, this video does give a bit more to look at as compared to still pictures.
