Archos 80 G9 tablet rooted, still a work in progress

The new Archos G9 series tablets haven't been out long, but as usual the developer community is already working hard at figuring out the goods and bringing a root method for all. The popular @PaulOBrien has been hard at work with the new Archos 80 G9 Honeycomb tablet and has finally achieved root access. He does however mention that it was not an easy task and it is still a work in progress before any sort of details and instructions will be released. Progress is progress though right?

Archos and TigerDirect build cheap, custom tablets for publishers

It was estimated in 2009 that if the New York Times sent every one of its paying subscribers a free Amazon Kindle, they would still save half the cost of physically printing and delivering the newspaper every day. It looks like Archos and TigerDirect are taking that thought experiment into the real world. They've begun a program that lets publishers customize and brand an Android tablet to their subscribers' needs, then subsidize the cost of the tablet for cheap, efficient e-reading.

Archos 80 G9 Hands-on and Unboxing [Video]

We've got products coming out of our ears this week here at Android Community, the newest of which is the Archos 80 G9, a lovely new Honeycomb tablet sitting itself up to compete with the now-saturated tablet market here in the USA. This tablet has a unique shape and size, feels just divine to hold with one or two hands, and does indeed have a built-in kickstand to allow you to do your everyday work and play with complete ease. Will this tablet drown in the sea, or will it have a fighting chance at taking a sizable bite out of the fledgeling Android tablet market?
