Archos G9 tablet lineup not getting Jelly Bean
Archos has come forward with a bit of disappointing news for owners of the G9 tablets. Basically, you will not be getting Jelly Bean. While we are certain that at least some of the current owners will be disappointed by this news, take some comfort in the fact that Archos did update from Honeycomb. Basically, the Archos G9 tablet line includes the 80 and the 101 and as it stands, you will be sticking with Ice Cream Sandwich.

Archos has issued another round of firmware updates for their mildly popular Archos G9 80 and 101 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablets. the Archos G9 line might not be the best hardware around, or the nicest, but for a great price they are impressive tablets that run a pretty stock version of Android 4.0 ICS. More details and change-log after the break.

Archos G9 tablets get Turbo edition pre-loaded with ICS
Archos has been rather surprisingly quick to dole out timely updates for its tablet hardware (a fact that certain parties would do well to take not of). After upgrading their 8 and 10-inch 9th generation tablets to Ice Cream Sandwich via a software update, they're re-releasing the G9 series with ICS straight from retailers. The G9 Turbo tablets will have the latest version of Android right off the shelf, something that very few phones and tablets can say even four months after release.

For those keeping track of the Archos line of tablets the latest edition G9 series are about to receive Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We saw an early preview build back in December from Archos and were told to expect an update to the Archos 101 G9 and 80 G9 early 2012 -- as soon as the first week of February. While the update hasn't started rolling out yet a few online retailers are currently taking pre-orders for the Archos G9 with ICS.

If you have a need for copious amounts of storage on a mobile device the new Archos 80 G9 series Honeycomb tablet would probably be a great choice. Android 4.0 hitting Archos G9 tablets in Q1 2012
Both Archos G9 tablets should see Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in Q1 of next year. A successful update to ICS will not only make Archos look like an even more reliable manufacturer, but also show its customers they want their products to be the best they can be. Android 4.0 will bring a wealth of UI changes and help the G9 series compete with other tablets after the holidays.

We've been following Archos and their line of cheap and affordable budget Android tablets but lately their entire naming scheme is getting out of control.
