The Android Community Team: mixed opinions on utility apps

For this latest 'Android Community Team' post we are talking about apps that help you manage your device. This can include everything from tools that help you track battery life or manage your storage space. There are also the tools for remote tracking. But putting the examples aside for a moment; as you are about to see -- we actually have a pretty mixed opinion on using these tools. One of us avoids them, one of us regularly uses them, and one of us is sort of in the middle and may be headed to using them on a regular basic.

If you've been enamored by some of the apps on the brand new HTC One M8 but don't want to switch phones just for that, then there is a sliver of hope for you. Over at XDA, the process of extracting the said apps and libraries has been started, in the hopes of someday making them available to other devices as well.

New app ‘Multitasking’ adds windows, functionality to your Android device

In our recent hands-on with the LG G Flex, we were impressed with the multi-window feature. That feature allows for more than one app to run on the screen at the same time. There is also a second utility wherein you can overlay windows on one another, bringing a true feeling of multi-tasking. That’s now come to Android proper in the form of the aptly named Multitasking, an app you can get on your device — right now.

Lenovo DOit app suite hands-on

Along with the Yoga Tablet 10 HD+, Lenovo also introduced a suite of apps. This is the DOit suite of apps, and there will be five in total. While the apps were unveiled along with the tablet, they will also be appearing on other Lenovo devices, including those currently available. Furthermore, they will also work with other devices. To that last point, our hands-on time with the apps included a Moto X.
