Ematic ships Jelly Bean with the 7-inch Genesis Prime

Ematic has announced their latest Android tablet offering, the Genesis Prime. This particular tablet is sporting a 7-inch display and is available as of today, however the nicer part of this story comes in with the fact that it ships with Jelly Bean. Specifically, the Genesis Prime tablet is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Granted, that is certainly not the latest version of Jelly Bean, however it is much nicer as compared to the alternative -- Ice Cream Sandwich.

Samsung rumors suggest the Galaxy Tab 3 will be rebranded

It looks like another Galaxy Tab 3 rumor has surfaced. This latest has arrived with an image, some specs and even a new name. Yes, according to the latest in the rumor mill, Samsung will not be launching the tablet as the Galaxy Tab 3, but instead as the Galaxy S Tab. The reasoning here is that Samsung wants to continue to build upon the success they saw with the Galaxy S phone line.

HP Slate 7 release pushed to June [UPDATE]

HP officially announced the Slate 7 tablet back in late February and at the time they were pretty forthcoming in terms of price and specs. The release details were not quite as complete, however HP did say the tablet would be available beginning in April. Well, it now looks like that release time has quietly been pushed up a few months. HP hasn't said anything specific, but the Slate 7 page on the HP website has been updated.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z UK availability pegged for May 20

We had known that Sony was going to be launching the Xperia Tablet Z in Japan on March 22 and we recently saw the device make an appearance with the FCC ahead of a US release. As of today though, we have some details for those hoping to pick up the Xperia Tablet Z in the UK -- a release is coming and pre-orders are already available.

HP Slate 7 FCC filing discovered ahead of April release

HP announced the Slate 7 tablet back in February. They were pretty forthcoming in terms of details at the time and offered everything from specs to pricing and even a rough idea of when the tablet will begin shipping. For those who may have missed that earlier news, the HP Slate 7 is expected in April and will arrive priced at $169. The good news today, it looks like that April release is now one step closer to becoming a reality.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z appears in FCC filing

It looks like the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is now one step closer to being released in the US market. We haven't seen a specific release date just yet, however the fact that the device has recently passed by the FCC does imply that a release date is getting closer. That being said, this filing is for the Wi-Fi only model and for better or worse -- does not contain much in terms of surprises.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 3G makes the required FCC appearance

We saw the Galaxy Note 8.0 make an appearance with the FCC back in late-January. At that time the tablet was shown under the model number of GT-5110 and it was a 16GB model with Wi-Fi connectivity. Basically, we were looking at the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Note 8.0 at that time. And well, as of today it looks like the FCC filing for the cellular connected model has been discovered.

IDC: Android tablets will overtake the iPad in 2013

We have seen plenty coming from the International Data Corp (IDC) over the past few months in terms of smartphones, however today we have some details on tablets. Specifically, on Android tablets as compared to the iPad. Basically, the IDC is forecasting that Android tablets will overtake the iPad market share in 2013. This comes as a result of what they are describing as a "predicted surge of smaller, lower-priced devices."

DirecTV launches Android tablet app, forgets to support the Nexus 7

Despite the fact that DirecTV has had an Android app available for some time now. And not even counting the bit about them having an app available for the iPhone and iPad -- they have finally released a tablet intended for Android users. The app, which is dubbed DirecTV for Tablets can be found in the Google Play Store, however some Android tablet users may not be able to use the app.

Sony had previously announced the Xperia Tablet Z and at that time they had said the global roll-out would begin with Japan. Well, keeping on that same word, we now have some details in terms of the release date. Simply put, the Xperia Tablet Z will be available for those in Japan beginning on March 22. The key here is beginning as there will also be a second release date in Japan.
