ASUS says they’ll be first to “Android 5.0 Jelly Bean”

As the updates to Android come out some manufacturers are fast to adopt the latest and greatest, while others tend to take way too long -- especially on phones. ASUS is one of those on the "fast" list and have prided themselves on being the fastest to update their devices. Just like the original Transformer was the first to update to new versions of Honeycomb, the Prime was the first to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Now ASUS has mentioned Android 5.0 and Jelly Bean, and we sure are excited.

Rumor: Android 5.0 Jelly Bean due in 2nd quarter

Put this one squarely in the long shot column. Supplier tipsters at DigiTimes claim that Google is encouraging its hardware partners to consider new tablets and netbooks that run Android 5.0, unconfirmed code name "Jelly Bean", in the second quarter of this year. The anonymous Taiwanese source states that Google hopes dual-booting solutions for standard form factors can be created, specifically incorporating both Android 5.0 and Windows 8 ARM on the same hardware. Such a combination would be technically feasible, thougfh early looks at Windows 8 indicates that its ARM-flavored variant will be highly locked down.

Google I/O now 3 days long, moved to June 27-29

It's time to get the calenders out and add Google I/O 2012's updated dates to the list. Google I/O has been an extremely hot event for Google for a few years now, not to mention they always give away a few awesome goodies for free. Last year it was the Galaxy Tab 10.1 among other things. Today Google's extended I/O 2012 from two days to now giving us 3 days of fun, but they've also pushed back the event a few months.

Android “Jelly Bean” up next after Ice Cream Sandwich

We have heard all sorts of crazy names for our favorite green robot OS and it appears we now have some official details about the next version. According to what we are hearing are "trusted" sources the next version of Android will in fact be called "Jelly Bean". This will follow Ice Cream Sandwich which is the next version of Android coming shortly.
