Jelly Bean update lands on Samsung Galaxy S Advance in January

In a world where Android manufacturers are rushing to get Jelly Bean updates out the door, Samsung has been one of the best. The company is or will be supporting a lot of its handsets with Jelly Bean updates, including the Galaxy S Advance. We've known for a little while that the Galaxy S Advance was going to be updated to Jelly Bean, but today we're getting an actual release window for the update.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update begins rolling out to Nexus S

After being left to wonder if Android 4.1 Jelly Bean would actually come to the Nexus S, it seems that Google has begun the roll out. Unfortunately, for the moment it seems that only some carriers are getting the update, so some Nexus S owners may be left waiting for a while. In any case, Google announced via the Nexus Twitter account today that the update roll out has started, so at least we know that it's underway.

Android Community Weekly: June 24th, 2012

This week was all about the Galaxy S III here in the US. T-Mobile and AT&T both unleashed the flagship smartphone into the wild, although only in limited supply, and the masses can now enjoy Samsung's latest creation. Next week however will be all about Google I/O. By the end of next week we'll hopefully be talking about Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and beyond.

Google Play Store reportedly outs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The topic of what the next version of Android will be has been heavily discussed since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was released, and before. Today however some new rumors and screenshots have appeared that supposedly confirm Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be the next iteration of Android. We'll probably know for sure come next week at Google IO but lets look at the details.

“Google ASUS Nexus 7″ tablet shown in benchmark running Android 4.1

Well what do we have here? Rightware's Power Board has posted a benchmark result for a previously unknown device going by the name "Google Asus Nexus 7". Based on the specifications outed - an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and a 720p resolution - this looks like it very well could be the much-rumored and long-awaited Nexus Tablet. The benchmark was run only once, but the brand in particular - simply listed as "Google" - is very promising.
