Sony Z Ultra GPe getting a bug fixing Android 4.4.2 update

The two newest Google Play edition devices are getting an update. The update is bringing them from Android 4.4 to 4.4.2 and while it was nice to see the update so quickly on the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet, it seems those carrying a Sony Z Ultra may find it a bit nicer. You see, not only is this update bumping your version of Android on the Z Ultra, but it is also taking care of the recently discovered bugs.

LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition tablet getting Android 4.4.2

The LG G Pad 8.3 became the first tablet in the Google Play edition device lineup last week and it looks like this device is living up to the GPe name. By that, we mean updates that tend to arrive much quicker as compared to a regular carrier or manufacturer branded device. The tablet arrived last week with Android 4.4 and we are already seeing the over-the-air arrival of Android 4.4.2.

Android 4.4.1 update expected soon with Nexus 5 camera fix

While the Nexus 5 seems to have stepped up a bit in terms of the camera, things were not quite as perfect as many had been hoping for. Overall the handset is able to take some decent pictures, but there are frequent complaints about the shutter speed. We have been playing with third-party camera apps and have seen some improvement there, but it appears as if Google is getting ready to push out a fix.

US Cellular Moto X Android 4.4 Kit Kat update expected today

We have yet to see the official word come from Motorola, however sources are suggesting US Cellular Moto X users will have an update coming today. And just to clarify, this is the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update. Assuming the update rolls out as expected, that means US Cellular users would join a group that also includes AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. But again, this all goes back to an earlier promise from Motorola about how Kit Kat would arrive for all Moto X users within the next few weeks.

Kit Kat Launcher+ adds customization options to a stock-like experience

There are plenty of launcher apps sitting in the Play Store and it looks like yet another has arrived. Though, while this latest joins a rather large group, there may be some reason to pay attention. The app is called Kit Kat Launcher+ and is said to have been compiled straight from AOSP. And in addition, while some launchers bring an overabundance of features and options, this one is a bit simpler.

LG Canada talks Kit Kat for the G2

Earlier in the month there was a leak coming by way of French carrier SFR suggesting Android 4.4 Kit Kat was heading to the LG G2 in December. Well, while we have yet to hear anything confirming that timeline direct from LG, it looks like there may be some news for those in Canada. LG Canada has been talking about Kit Kat on the G2, though, the timeline may not be what many were hoping to hear.

OmniROM drops Android 4.4 Kit Kat based nightly release

There are plenty of third party ROMs available for Android users to pick and choose from. Some are better known than others and some have been around for longer, and while we often look towards Cyanogen and Paranoid Android as highlights here, there is another, newer option with OmniROM. The OmniROM team, which is made up of a few well known Android developers have released a Kit Kat based ROM with support for 15 devices.
