Toshiba Excite X10 Hands-On

Toshiba Excite X10 Hands-On
This is undoubtedly Toshiba's best tablet to date, and has a great thin form factor. There was no lag while operating the device on the showroom floor, but there weren't many strenuous programs preloaded on it to give it a true test. It comes in at .3 inches thin with an aluminum backing, and is running Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) - it will be updated to Android 4.0 after release. We saw earlier that the Excite X10 had a generous 10.1" 1280x800 display, 1GB RAM, and ran over a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor. There is both a 5MP rear camera, and a 1.3MP front facing video cam. As you can see, it runs perfectly smooth in the demo, so the final model will likely be even better. It will launch at $529.99 for the 16GB, and a definite release date is not yet determined. Until now, Toshiba's tablets haven't been quite eye-friendly. But if this new style continues and they drop the price a little bit, they could have a great selling product. [gallery]

It will be pushed to devices tomorrow, but can be easily downloaded and updated today. Honeycomb brings some much needed features to the EVO View 4G, and the most noticeable being the new "Notifications" menu.

Android 4.0 hitting Archos G9 tablets in Q1 2012
Both Archos G9 tablets should see Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in Q1 of next year. A successful update to ICS will not only make Archos look like an even more reliable manufacturer, but also show its customers they want their products to be the best they can be. Android 4.0 will bring a wealth of UI changes and help the G9 series compete with other tablets after the holidays.

We've talked about it plenty but now it's here we finally get to enjoy that quad-core power thanks to the superchip NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor under the hood. It's been seen a few times in the wild and even running Android 4.0 ICS but today we have the actual retail product that you'll all be able to purchase soon. When I say soon I mean December 19th. Yup that is the official date, not the 8th. Head on down past the break for plenty of pictures, videos and more information on that release date.
