Android 3.0 (Honeycomb)

Notion Ink Adam Tablet gets a Honeycomb port

Man, when we reported earlier this week that Notion Ink was back with more Adam news, we didn't know they'd be back with a vengeance. But that seems to be the case as we've got two more bits of news about the home grown Android Tablet. The first bit of news is that a stalwart Android fan named MrGuy, has managed to port Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) onto his Adam. He's managed to boot up the system, install all his apps, and troubleshoot OpenGL issues which prompted Force Close. Pretty cool.

Google Earth updated, optimized for Android Tablets

A new version of Google Earth is now available and it has been updated and optimized for the larger screens of android tablets, more specifically Android 3.0 Honeycomb. I remember when Google Earth first launched I loved it, and the thought of it on my G1 was awesome. Now it is available for most android phones and it shows how powerful it and android truly is. Google has updated it for not only the larger screens, but the more powerful processors we are seeing also.

Barnes and Noble announcing new e-Reader tablet May 24th

It looks like a little news has slipped up that Barnes and Noble plan to announce a brand new e-Reader tablet on May 24th. So all you NOOKcolor lovers don't have to wait long for the good news. For now we don't have much to go on and this is really all that has been said. We still don't know what they are planning, but with the success of the NOOKcolor I can only imagine they want to keep things going strong.

Nexus T Toshiba Tablet Next Official Google Release?

Let's talk about this situation and see if we can't piece together a few factoids. First, waaay back at the beginning of this year, a mystery tablet started showing up - one made by Toshiba, having a 10.1-inch screen, and sporting what would become Android 3.0 Honeycomb (testers floating around had Froyo, of course.) Have a look at our big reveal post and continue on - does that look like a tablet that Google would officially endorse as the next step in their flagship series? That very much appears to be what may be happening now!

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Review in a Nutshell

True to form, our good pal Chris Davies has the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer up and running as fast as a bunny, reviewing the heck out of it for you and me so that we might know if it's really worth the $400 we'll be paying for it! This device also has the code TF101 attached to it for further IDing and is, in short, a 10.1-inch Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet with a rather fashionable keyboard dock attachment that essentially allows you to work with the device as a tablet or a laptop. Will it power past the competition?

Android Ice Cream Sandwich Confirmed [Even More For Real This Time]

You know how all the bigtime Android iterations are named after desserts? Do you also see how the titles of these deserts have been released in alphabetical order? These Android titles go like so: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb. This last version is the first tablet-specific version of Android and should, based on what we know at the moment, be considered as being developed aside from the main Android bloodline. That said, the next version's name has been "leaked" by a Google developer by the name of Romain Guy: Ice Cream Sandwich.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 deal at Best Buy

Best Buy is featuring the Acer Iconia Tab A500 in their weekly sales circular and at a pretty good price, too. The Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet is on sale for just under $450, cheaper than Motorola's XOOM, which is selling for around $600, WiFi only. It's also available now at that price, while the slightly cheaper EeePad Transformer (at $400) won't be out for another few weeks. And with our earlier report that users can root the Iconia (with a step by step guide included), the time is ripe to ask the question ... why wait?

ACER Iconia Tab A500 Rooted [Plus a Step by Step Guide!]

It seems as though we've come to a point in this lovely Android timeline where it's not if a device is going to get rooted, it's not even when, it's WHO will gain root. I suppose that's a little bit of when in there too, but mostly who. In this case it's monki-magic and his modified Gingerbreak apk (the original being made by Chainfire) - plus there's a few more players, but we'll get to that soon. What we're rooting here is the ACER A500 Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet and we've got a whole set of directions to offer up to you right here and now!

Motorola Xoom Camera Connection Kit now available at Verizon

It looks like Motorola has now introduced a Camera Connection Kit for the Motorola Xoom. I know this may be as of use to some of you out there, but for me I just transfer with Dropbox or over USB from my computer. This is basically a cable that will let you easily, and conveniently transfer pictures from your camera right to the Motorola Xoom.

Motorola Xoom getting OTA Update tomorrow, still no SD support

Looks like there is now some news that the Motorola Xoom is getting an OTA update tomorrow. This news has just dropped from our friends at DroidLife. This looks to address some issues, as well as add new features. Things like Bluetooth support to GTalk, as well as bluetooth mouse support for the Xoom. There is also mention of addition proxy support, SSL data transfer with websites, and more. Check it out.
