Android Community Yearly Wrap-Up: 2011

This past year we've seen the Android OS grow to unimaginable heights and it has helped reassure its adopters time after time they are in good hands. Through the countless devices we've handled and reviewed, the devices and merchandise given away, and events we've attended - 2011 been one of our best year's! Though indiscrete after a while, one of our biggest changes was our AC logo. It proved to be a much welcome change to the entire community. Also, this is the first year of Device.AC - our Android Community device database. Its got the specific specs of the latest and greatest to earliest and iconic Android devices. The release of Google+ and Google Music were quite significant as well. They have brought us closer to acquaintances of all kinds - whether it be friends or co-workers.

LG Optimus Pad 2 image leaks

Last year LG launched the Optimus Pad better known as the T-Mobile LG G-Slate in a neat 8.9" form factor and some 3D effects. While the tablet didn't sell extremely well it was their first venture into the tablet game. Today we are seeing what is believed to be the successor to the Optimus Pad -- possible the Optimus Pad 2.

Google Docs update improves tablet layout and experience

Google Docs has just received a much needed update today in the market that is aiming at Android Honeycomb tablets. We have a brand new layout and enhanced user interface for tablets as well as a 3-panel interface for easy viewing of documents on the larger 7 & 10.1" displays. More update details after the break.

Motorola Xoom just $349 today only [Deal]

Today the Motorola Xoom can be yours for the low low price of just $350 although this is a refurbished unit and they are Wi-Fi only. This is still a pretty sweet deal on the original Honeycomb tablet that is sure to get the latest updates and Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the gate. Platinum Apps has just lowered the price on their awesome Air Hockey game made just for Android Honeycomb tablets. What we have is Platinum Air Hockey bringing amazing graphics and life-like physics to Honeycomb. I've played a few air hockey games in the past -- but with stunning HD graphics on my 10" tablet this sure beats anything else I've tried so far. More details and pictures after the break.

Git Media announces duo of Honeycomb tablets with 250GB HD’s for $479

Git Media might not be a name you've heard much in the world of Android but they look to be changing that with the announcement of two new Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets. The Git Surge and the Git Pro. Both of these tablets feature impressive and standard Honeycomb tablet specs and both offer dual-core performance, the difference here is they come with a 250GB hard drive for extended storage capacity yet stay relatively cheap and are just $479 -- More details below.

Facebook for Android update available, Seems to add tablet support

Late last night Facebook for Android received another update and while it includes the usual bug fixes and performance comments most updates do, it doesn't however mention that now it works for tablets and is available for download. Don't get me wrong this is no where near a tablet user interface, something we desperately need for Honeycomb but it does seem to look ok and work pretty great too. More details past the break.
