Blu Products debuts Dash 3.5, a $99 unlocked smartphone
Typically, a smartphone that suports dual SIM cards without a contract from a carrier is quite expensive. Usually, the price for such phones is in the hundreds. However, the new Blu Dash 3.5 breaks the trend and comes in at just under one hundred dollars, which is quite impressive for a fully unlocked Android smartphone.

2.3 Gingerbread now on almost 40% of Android devices
Google announced the latest software breakdown for Android today (what, you didn't think there was only one announcement going on, did you?) and the numbers are promising. 38.7% of devices running Android are using version 2.3, "Gingerbread", the latest smartphone version officially supported by Google. For what's probably the first time this year, less than half of the Android userbase is running on Froyo.

Nexus S Auto Photo Delete Error Investigated by Samsung and Google
Ruh roh, one of those mysterious gremlin errors is happening in everyone's favorite smartphone with the coolest most nude version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Nexus S. This particular error is reportedly happening specifically on the Nexus S 4G (aka the Sprint version of the device) and includes connectivity and random photo deletion errors. Before we continue, have a look at our review of said Nexus S 4G device and come back with full knowledge. Then hear this, as spoken by a spokesperson from big Yellow to ComputerWorld late yesterday: "We are aware of the connectivity reports being brought forward by a small number of Nexus S 4G customers. Google, Sprint and Samsung are examining these reports and though we have not yet been able to identify any specific causes, we are working to determine exactly what our customers are experiencing." Bad news bears!

Motorola XT882 headed to China as Dual-Core, Dual-Sim, Dual-Mode Superphone
Lately we have seen a few devices that were headed to China and they weren't what I'd call up to par in the specs department, but this looks to bring that to a new level. Folks in China should be ready to rejoice with this new phone from Motorola. It is strikingly similar to the Motorola Atrix in terms of design and a few specs but the real treat is that dual-sim and dual-mode under the hood.

KDDI INFOBAR A01 Presents Impressive Android Interpretation
Behold an excellent vision for the very capable Android 2.3 Gingerbread Google mobile OS. This is a vision as constructed by Japanese industrial designer / user interface specialist Naoto Fukasawa who takes the very popular INFOBAR design from KDDI and upgrades it to face off against the iPhone. While you may say "wait, why would he make this phone's UI look like Windows Phone 7 to compete with iPhone", you've got to appreciate the excellence of the layout.

Droid X Gingerbread update approved
Last week, we reported a rumor that a Droid X Gingerbread update could be coming May 13th after being submitted to Verizon several times for approval. The update had originally been slated for an April release, but that slipped since Verizon wanted a few changes before signing off. The word now is that Gingerbread for the Droid X has been approved and will be coming out as an OTA update as early as Friday, May 13th. So while still a rumor, it takes the next giant step out of the shadows.
