Verizon begins Android 2.1 update rollout for Motorola Droid
The on again off again saga that is the Droid 2.1 update is on again, hopefully. Engadget has gotten their hands on an internal memo that that outlines the OTA update for the Droid. At noon today, which has come and gone, 1000 Droid users should receive the update and by midnight there should be 9000 more.  And by Thursday, almost all Droid’s should receive the OTA. Judging by how this was handled so far, I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high. The full memo is after the break.

Another Android best has been handled by our friends from Slashgear. Earlier today they brought us one of the first unboxing of the highly anticipated HTC Desire. This time around, they are one of the first to review of the equally anticipated Sony Xperia X10. We’ve known, and wanted, this phone since around last October. Since then there has been multiple powerful Android handsets announced for release this year. So is it too little to for Sony or will this be their knight in shining armor.

Sprint to release Android 2.1 update for Hero and Moment in the coming weeks?
As it stands right now we have only one 2.1 device, Google’s own Nexus One. 2.1 has been a hot commodity every since it debuted on January 5th on the Nexus. For whatever reason, it has yet to see light on any other non rooted Android handset. Even the mighty droid can’t seem to get an official 2.1 update. Sprint has promised earlier this year that it will indeed deliver 2.1 to their Hero and the Moment.

In case you aren’t familiar with the ODROID , the manufacturer, Hardkernel, describes it as an “Entertainment Device” with a focus on gaming. The Developer Edition is shipping with a Samsung Cortex-A8 processor clocked at 833MHz with NEON multimedia accelerator, 512 MB of DDR2 RAM, and 720p video output via HDMI, but only a 320 x 480 3.5 inch screen, a vanilla install of Android 1.5. Well, the 1.5 will be replaced soon by Android 2.1

Firstview HK Electronic Limited presents its SmartBook
Firstview HK Electronic Limited has presented a SmartBook that only cost $65 to make. It's called the Nike PC706V, it will has a 7-inch screen (800 × 480), a VIA 8505 ARM 9 clocked at 533Mhz with 128 MB of RAM, a 2GB capacity, WiFi, a USB drive and a 2100 mAh battery that should last 4 hours. It has Android 1.6 installed but this could potentially be upgraded to Android 2.1.
