Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch Review

Welcome to the United States, Galaxy S II, I see you've got the longest name in the history of smartphones here in your initial iteration! Don't worry, though, it's nothing to be afraid of - you're still the thinnest 4G device on any and every carrier you'll be on here in the states, and with this first launch on the WiMAX carrying carrier, you're round and lovely as well. The Epic 4G Touch has what many might call the most unique look to it of all the Galaxy S II devices out thus far, having a 4.5-inch display, the roundest edges in a Galaxy S II thus far, and almost spherical back corners with a textured battery cover. Four buttons at the bottom and it's lost its international single-center-button charm, will it add up to the legends we've heard of this device as it's been out for the past few months in Europe in Asia?

Samsung Confirms Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch

Well guys it appears this is a bit more official after this. Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy S II with 4G WiMAX and it will be called the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch on their online training site. I must say that is a HUGE name for a smartphone and it really is just way too long. I'll be calling it the SGSIIE4GT for short, if you call that short.

Samsung GT-19220 Photo Leaked, Packs a huge AMOLED display [Update]

Here is a photo that will most likely get those rumor mills stirring again. We aren't sure exactly what we are looking at, or how big the screen is but comparing it to the 4.0" display on the Galaxy S next to it, I'd say it's pretty large. Sources are claiming this to be the new Samsung GT-I9220 that we recently saw on a leaked Samsung roadmap. While the leak is claiming it to possibly be a 5.29" AMOLED display with a 1280x720p resolution the leaked roadmap suggests something much smaller for the GT-I9220.

Samsung Galaxy S II Upgrade Teased for IFA 2011 [Update: VIDEO]

We've gotten our first peek at what may well be the next generation Samsung Galaxy S II, or at least the idea of it, in a short 30 second teaser trailer for IFA 2011. This trailer is at the moment no longer available for public viewing (and will probably remain this way until we get a bit closer to the actual Berlin event,) but based on what we've seen, IFA 2011 is sure to have an "Unpacked" event that'll reveal some sort of newness in the smartphone-holding hands of citizens in the form of bright lights. This advertisement took the form of the handheld torches sort of look we've been treated to in the past when the Galaxy S II was first teased, this new ad revealing not just a whole heck of a lot of additional info on the subject.

Samsung Super AMOLED HD Displays Coming Soon?

We all have been hearing a lot about HD displays on our smartphones as of late. From the HTC Vigor being HD, to the Droid HD spotted this morning. When we say HD we mean something packing in a 720p or higher resolution. The Vigor is rumored to be 1280x720 and the Droid HD should be similar. New reports from OLED-info is now claiming that Samsung and their AMOLED displays will be HD and are coming soon.

Galaxy S Skin Flexible AMOLED Screen Concept Revealed

Before we go too far into this experiment in awesomeness, you should know that the following set of images are for a design experiment, a conceptual work made by an industrial designer wishing to explore the possibilities and current impossibilities of the way smartphones and their super amazing super AMOLED displays are able to work. This is of course therefor a Samsung Device, running with the Galaxy name, named here the Galaxy S Skin or just the Galaxy Skin, bending in all directions to give you an experience like none other.

Samsung Galaxy Q May have 5.3″ Bezel Free Folding Display

We recently mentioned something being called the Samsung Galaxy Q and early reports are calling it a phone/tablet hybrid from Samsung with a 5.3" display. We have only heard a few small bits of information on this device but if recent stories dug up by SamFirmware show us anything, its that Samsung might have a sweet foldable android tablet-type device in the works.

Android Gaming Platform design at Yanko

Over at Yanko, there's a cool design for an Android gaming platform that could go head to head with Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play. The concept, which is being touted as the Samsung HD3 Console, would employ a 3D galaxy interface with an HD AMOLED multi-touch screen, have Dolby mobile stereo speakers, two analog sticks and a built-in microphone for chat. It also looks to stream live TV via 4G or WiFi, 250GB of internal memory and sport an insane 8MP front camera and 12MP rear shutter. And of course, it would run Android, presumably Gingerbread or above.
