Verizon’s LG Ally Android 2.2 Update Announced

Good news for all the LG Ally fans on Verizon, Android 2.2 is ready. The update (VS740ZVD) will bring all Ally devices up to the now mainstream Android 2.2 (Froyo). The update should be pushing soon, and with it, the mid-range Android device will be sporting features that have become a commonplace in today's mobile world. Joining the ranks of the now 50% Android users on 2.2, the LG Ally further brings Verizon's line-up up to date, or at least one OS behind. Now only if another phone, from another company can follow suit. [Via IntoMobile]

Fancy Widget Gets C&D From HTC

That actually took longer than I expected it to take. Maybe Fancy Widget wasn’t popular enough up until now. Nonetheless, Fancy Widget will soon be gone from the Android Market. Like HTC did with the original Beautiful Widgets, they have requested the makers of Fancy Widget to pull their app from the market and stop imitating their custom clock/weather widget design that is found in their Sense UI package.
“With the release of this update, we are also here to share with you some bad news. Due to HTC’s complaint, the current version of Fancy Widget will soon be discontinued and removed from the market. This is the last update to the current version, and we suggest everyone upgrade to this version as soon as possible”
Get it while it’s hot, if you read the statement above, this widget will soon be removed from the market. The last update will be the final release of Fancy widget. In an effort to keep up with the beautiful Widgets de ja vu, the makers are planning on bringing it back shortly with a whole new design. Odds are, the new design will not be as “Fancy” as the current but it still should be a free app and a nice replacement for the original clock app. [via eurodroid]

Another market alternative has entered the Android arena. Droid Incredible Has Been Rooted

One of the best things about owning an Android device is the ability to gain root access. Sometimes this is an easy process and other times it’s very hard. The Droid Incredible has been a tough nut to crack despite the fact that it is an HTC device and there are many great hackers in the developer community that primary work on modding HTC devices. Finally, the Droid Incredible has been rooted.

Sony Ericsson “Shakira”?

The device you see in the picture below is the rumored “Shakira”. It isn’t as sexy as the singer but it does look good. This device will be coming soon and is the little brother of the X10. If the X10 is too big for you and the Mini's are too small, this will fit your needs if you like the styling of the X10.

Froyo Is Being Pushed TO The Nexus One Now

Early this morning a writer from TechCrunch made a claim that before he went to bed last night, he put his phone on the charger. Before he put it down he noticed that he had a notification for an update. So he installed the update and what do you know, he had 2.2. Most of us around the web did not think this was real, no one else had it and screen shots didn’t look to good. But, people in various parts started to receive this update and it’s pretty much confirmed. Froyo is being pushed out to the Nexus One right now.

How To Turn Off Sense on The EVO 4G

One of the best features of Sense UI devices is the ability to turn it off and use Vanilla Android. For some reason there are a few newer Sense devices that don’t allow this. Luckily the EVO isn’t one of them, you can turn off Sense in the HTC EVO 4G.

LG Aloha, Still Alive and Headed To AT&T?

Here’s a device that has undergone many changes on its way onto the market. The LG Aloha could very well be the LG LU2300, most of heard that it was renamed Ally but that may not be the case. A device from LG with the model number LG-C710h has just passed through the FCC.
