Alcatel’s OneTouch Hero 8 is a slim octa-core 8-inch tablet

You may have noticed it, but it just needs saying that going “octa-core” (8 processor cores, for the uninitiated) seems to be the trend at the ongoing IFA 2014 in Berlin. A lot of manufacturers are outing new devices with octa-core processors and Alcatel is one of those with the OneTouch Hero 8 – a stylish new tablet with power to spare.

Alcatel gives affordable LTE connectivity with POP2 smartphones

Alcatel’s POP devices have been one the manufacturer’s most accessible products since its 2013 refresh – offering budget-friendly devices with respectable specs. Alcatel presents their Idol X+, a 5-inch, octa-core flagship

Alcatel continues their product rollout today with the Idol X+, their flagship handheld. The device is a bit different from what we’ve seen recently, keeping a sleek look and mature styling. Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ hands-on plus BOOMBand Wearable

Alcatel wants a bigger slice of the midrange, and the OneTouch Idol X+ is the smartphone it thinks will achieve that. Announced at CES 2014 - and with a North American launch confirmed as in the pipeline - the Android handset keeps the 5-inch Full HD display of its predecessor, the Idol X, but slots in a new "true octacore" chip from MediaTek and works with a new "BOOMBand" Bluetooth wearable for fitness tracking and notifications. We grabbed some hands-on time with the Idol X+ at CES 2014.
