UK carrier Three has just announced two new additions to its smartphone lineup. The LG Optimus L1 II is presented as a smartphone for beginners while the Acer Liquid E2 will be the operator's first Acer smartphone offering.
Acer unveiled the 5.7-inch Liquid S1 phablet back in early June and while that handset is still relatively new, it looks like the follow-up is already in the works. Taking that a step further and it looks like some details of that follow-up device have recently leaked. What we are seeing is coming by way of a leaked company roadmap from Acer.
Back in June the popular laptop manufacturer Acer announced their new 5.7-inch Android phablet, the Acer Liquid S1 smartphone. Coming in with a massive 5.7-inch Note style display with a 720p resolution and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and now this week it's officially available in Taiwan for just $430.
Sometimes, in order to differentiate one's self in the market, one has to go the opposite direction from the rest of the players. When the majority is going for phones bigger than what one hand can comfortably hold, a smaller but still powerful option might just stand out from the crowd. And that might exactly be what Acer is aiming for when it unveiled today its fifth smartphone for 2013: the Acer Liquid Z3.
Acer has officially announced the Liquid S1, a device they are touting as a phablet. This marks the first such device for Acer and it will arrive sporting a 5.7-inch 1280 x 720 display and running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Acer is pushing the Liquid S1 as being the "new travel companion for professionals and adventurers alike" and that statement appears to be coming by way of some pre-loaded applications.
This isn't the first time we are hearing about the Liquid E1 smartphone, however Acer has recently come forward with an official announcement. More specifically, Acer has announced a pair of smartphones, the Liquid E1 and the Liquid Z2. Both are entry-level devices that are expected to begin rolling out in various countries.
Acer isn't necessarily known for unveiling high-end smartphones so this latest shouldn't arrive with much surprise. The newest Acer handset is the Liquid E1 which will bring goodies to include a 4.5-inch display and dual-core 1GHz processor. Taking a step back from the mid-range specs though, we do have to give Acer some credit for the exterior design, which does seem to be an improvement.
We haven't seen much from Acer or the Liquid Mini lately but they are planning their next Ferrari phone and we have the details. Who remembers the Acer Liquid E Ferrari Edition? Basically what we have is that same idea wrapped around the recently released Liquid Mini.
The Compal 7 is an Android tablet that features the famed Tegra 2 chips, it was recently handled at the Netbook Summit here in San Francisco. Is it just me or is the wait for these NVIDIA Tegra 2 tablets following in the footsteps of Flash 10 for Android. It seems like we’ve been waiting on these to arrive for a year now. There have been many prototypes demonstrated with this awesome technology ad yet none of them has hit the streets yet.
The Froyo that is floating around may not be the final build but that isn’t stopping Android modders from porting it over to different devices. Yesterday we showed you all 2.2 on an Acer Liquid and today it’s the Desire’s turn. Ahmgsk from the XDA is the mastermind behind this port.
