Acer Iconia Tab A500

XOOM and Iconia Tab A500 in Stock at Target, Never Going to Sell

The following is a bit of a reaction piece, and it's chock full of opinions, all of them my own, so beware of that before you continue on. What we've just received from a faithful one of yourselves, the readers, is a set of three images, three photographs collected today from a Target superstore in mid-Minnesota. What you'll see is a display of two tablets, both of them Android, and both of them models that we've reviewed here before on Android Community. Have a look here and see if you can tell why I'm of the opinion that if this is how these manufacturers intend to sell their product, they've got no chance.

Acer Iconia Smart Delayed Till July Amid Japan Earthquake Aftermath

Have you heard of the new Acer Android smartphone? Nay? It's called the Acer Iconia Smart, and it's basically a phantom. Last time we heard from it, we were at Mobile World Congress 2011 and our good man Chris Davies was on the case. At that time it appeared that the phone would indeed be released by May 2011 (that's what time it is now,) but newest news says that a delay is occurring because Acer needs parts from Japanese factories that just aren't in commission at the moment.

Acer Iconia Tab A100 Delay Due to 7-inch Incompatibility with Honeycomb Says the Manufacturer

Wait, say what? Apparently, according to DigiTimes speaking with some "sources familiar with the matter," Acer's Iconia A100 (the smaller cousin of our already-reviewed Iconia Tab A500), have noted that Acer is blaming incompatibility issues with Honeycomb on a 7-inch device for their delay in launch. As you know, the Acer Iconia Tab A100 was supposed to be launched back on May 14th along with the 101 (the 3G version) - that was nixed! Of course we're all waiting for this release because this set o' tablets is going to be bargain priced and the A500 isn't half bad, you know what I mean?

Acer Iconia Tab A500 Now Available at OfficeMax

Android tablets are continuing their steady stream into the market, as OfficeMax has started selling Acer's Iconia Tab A500 Honeycomb device. The wi-fi tablet from the Computer manufacturer is available at OfficeMax's website for $449.99. Wondering if you should head on over to your local OfficeMax and pick this one up? Check out Chris Burns' review of it here.

Honeycomb 3.1 Update Coming to ASUS and Acer Tablets Next Month

When Google announced the update to Honeycomb at Google IO last week, the only device given a timeframe to receive the update was the Motorola Xoom. Now Acer's Iconia Tab A500 and ASUS's Eee Pad Transformer have been added to that list. Both manufacturers have promised the 3.1 upgrade will be coming to their Honeycomb tablets sometime in June.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 deal at Best Buy

Best Buy is featuring the Acer Iconia Tab A500 in their weekly sales circular and at a pretty good price, too. The Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet is on sale for just under $450, cheaper than Motorola's XOOM, which is selling for around $600, WiFi only. It's also available now at that price, while the slightly cheaper EeePad Transformer (at $400) won't be out for another few weeks. And with our earlier report that users can root the Iconia (with a step by step guide included), the time is ripe to ask the question ... why wait?

ACER Iconia Tab A500 Rooted [Plus a Step by Step Guide!]

It seems as though we've come to a point in this lovely Android timeline where it's not if a device is going to get rooted, it's not even when, it's WHO will gain root. I suppose that's a little bit of when in there too, but mostly who. In this case it's monki-magic and his modified Gingerbreak apk (the original being made by Chainfire) - plus there's a few more players, but we'll get to that soon. What we're rooting here is the ACER A500 Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet and we've got a whole set of directions to offer up to you right here and now!

ACER Iconia Tab A500 Review

Welcome to the next big fat item on our list of the Honeycomb wave. This is the ACER Iconia Tab A500 Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet. Inside you'll find what's basically an untouched version of Google's tablet-optimized mobile operating system with a few apps added and a couple of generally alright cameras in play for a oddly shaped package of mixed conclusions indeed. With this tablet, Acer hopes to cut holes in the tablet market. Will they have the guts to trick it out? Find out, here and now!

Acer Iconia Tab A500 unboxed

We have stumbled upon what looks to be an unboxing of the Acer Iconia Tab, there is a hands on photo but after that most seem to look like photoshop or press shots. So this isn't really an unboxing, more like a sighting. Either way it is exciting to see that the Tab is getting closer and closer to "that" time as the more the better.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 Honeycomb Tablet Officially Announced

Our good friends at Acer have let us in on the official release of the Acer Iconia Tab A500, a 10.1-inch 1280x800 TFT WXGA tablet running Android 3.0 Honeycomb that's available exclusively at Best Buy NOW for the price of $449.99. We got to peek at an early build of this wild device by chance back at a jumpin' AT&T party during CTIA 2011, and it wasn't really all that ready to go software-wise, but the hardware was silvery tight and fresh. Now we've got the full lowdown and it's ready to be shared with the whole world.
