Verizon to publish report on Government requests for data early next year

Suddenly, everyone’s a hero. In the wake of the public uproar over the NSA’s intelligence gathering, and Edward Snowden’s own data gathering efforts, many tech companies erupted in a backlash. Between petitions circulating for change and admissions that they had turned info over to the US government or other law enforcement agencies, many tech companies were caught up in a PR nightmare. In the ongoing quest for greater transparency, one carrier — Verizon — has announced they’ll be publishing requests regarding government inquiries, and updating that list twice a year.

Verizon Galaxy S III Android 4.3 update rolling out

Following some of the other carrier branded Galaxy S III updates, Verizon Wireless has become the latest to begin rolling out Android 4.3. With that in mind, those carrying a Verizon Galaxy S III should be on the lookout for the update notification to arrive. Knowing the update rollout has already begun, users will be seeing an update that measures in at roughly 116MB in size and delivering support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch as well as a decent sized list of fixes, changes, and other miscellaneous tweaks.

Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 changelog revealed

We recently learned that Verizon and HTC were just about ready to begin rolling the Android 4.3 update to One users. The news the update had been approved came by way of Executive Director of Product Management at HTC who posts as @moversi on Twitter. The tweet mentioned how the update was expected to begin early this week and well, it looks like things are progressing. Verizon has recently posted the full changelog for the update.

DROID Ultra, Mini, Maxx soak test brings talk of Kit Kat

The specifics have yet to be revealed, however it does appear that Verizon and Motorola are getting ready to begin a soak test for the DROID lineup. This time around the update looks to be heading to the DROID Ultra, Mini and Maxx. And perhaps more important, it is believed to be the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update. What we have seen comes by way of an email from the Motorola Feedback Network and that bit about Kit Kat does involve a bit of speculation.

Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 update beginning this week

Last we heard Verizon and HTC had delayed the Android 4.3 rollout for the One by a month. Unfortunately, as that news came back at the end of October, that means those carrying a Verizon branded HTC One have already waited longer than the expected month. So while it would be nice to have seen news of the update beginning today, there is some news that it will be arriving fairly soon.
