Xperia Play heads to C-Spire, regional carrier ready for gaming

Regional carrier C-Spire apparently wants in on the gaming action here in Android and today have announced the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be available to C-Spire customers for just $49.99 starting today. Better late than never right? The phone is the same model already available from Verizon, that is also $49 from AT&T so this isn't anything new -- Just a good deal for those C-Spire users.

Sony Ericsson Nozomi tipped with 1.5GHz dual-core and 342 PPI display

It should go without saying that 342 PPI on a smartphone display is big, it's bad, it's amazing. One of the things that makes the iPhone such a blockbuster device (amongst many things, I'm sure) is the fact that it (the iPhone 4, that is) has a 326 PPI on its display. That's THICK and it makes brightness and sharpness tip and top. What we're to understand today is that Sony Ericsson will be punching that PPI (pixels per inch) directly in the nose with a device currently code-named Nozomi. Will this dual-core 1.5GHz device bring the beatdown, or will it come out much, much too late?

Muffin Knight App Review [Video]

It's time for a great app, a brand new app, an app that's going to change your LIFE - this is Muffin Knight, a game in which you shoot arrows, black holes, and belched-up food and guts in order to gain access to a set of muffins which you must return to a sorceress who's taken your life away from you for your sin of hunger. Sound like the game for you? Delve in with me to a world where it's not the muffins you eat, it's the on-fire pigs that you burn to death with you additional dragon flames and/or flaming arrows. There's even a gnome with a shotgun!

Verizon Labor Day Sales include XOOM, ThunderBolt, Galaxy Tab, Continuum

There's a big handful of devices on sale this weekend up until Labor Day including more than a couple of our old favorites on the Android front. All of these sales are online exclusives and each of them requires a 2-year activation, but beyond that you're in the sweet, sweet discount world. First there's the HTC ThunderBolt which is now $149.99 - this is the only LTE-capable smartphone on the whole list, and buying it here will mean it's pre-owned. Then there's the Motorola XOOM for $299.99 - note that this is a pre-owned model you'll be getting - this is the only LTE-capable tablet on the list. There's a couple of LTE mobile modems on sale too but I'll let you check those out for yourself since they're not Android-based.

Minecraft for Xperia PLAY Arrives Today

Sony Ericsson's most fabulous Playstation-controller smartphone, the Xperia PLAY, gets a brand new game today, one that's going to bring the device up to a brand new level, one that's going to change the way the world works! And it's going to do so with some big fat pixels. It's Minecraft Pocket Edition, the mobile version of the "Fastest Growing Independent PC Gaming Franchise" (in history*) as developed by Mojang as released today exclusively on the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Play, and Arc Soon to get Official CyanogenMod

CyanogenMod, everybody's (or at least my) favorite custom ROM is in line to make its way to several of Sony Ericsson's latest devices. Earlier this year SE made developers overjoyed when it announced plans to help owners of its latest phones unlock their bootloaders at the cost of official updates and warranties. That freedom is about to pay off as code for bringing CM 7.1 to the Xperia Neo, Play, and Arc is currently awaiting official approval.

Xperia PLAY now $99.99 at Verizon

Everyone's favorite legendary PlayStation phone is now less than $100 at Verizon tied to a 2-year contract. This is the device we've been using to do a small mass of reviews because of its rather unique ability to play all types of games with its PlayStation-certified controller which slides out from under its display. This device also runs a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with an Adreno 205 GPU for all your sweet bright lights processing. The display is a 4-inch multi-touch above which you've got a VGA front-facing camera with a 5-megapixel camera on the back.
