Deal: Samsung Nexus S $100 at Best Buy

Best Buy has the Samsung Nexus S for $100 with a two year contract from T-Mobile for a limited time. The sale runs from now until March 23rd and customers must be enrolled in Best Buy's Reward Zone program to be eligible for the deal, which is featured as an "in store only," price. The Nexus S is the pure Google Experience, with no overlays like MotoBlur or TouchWiz. Just a pure Gingerbread flavor of Android. It has a 4 inch WVGA Super AMOLED display with Samsung’s 1GHz Hummingbird processor. IT also has twin cameras including a rear facing camera that shoots 720x480 video. Sadly, no HD. The Nexus S comes in both Black and White.

We're sitting here with our notepads out, our magnets and our divining rods, OUIJA boards and dirt-mall-psychics, all of it together to put together the pieces on what Sprint might be bringing us during the utterly gigantic 2 and a half hour time slot they've got us slated for at CTIA in a couple weeks. Incase you do not know, 2.5hours for an event such as this is a long time, long enough to announce several new products - new Android products. We had our eyelids open this afternoon when Engadget was tipped anonymously on several new phones including an EVO View, Nexus S 4G, and EVO 3D - now we've got some extra clues that might just thread the needle.

Back when Google announced the Nexus S and its NFC capabilities many idea's came to mind. The amount of possibilities this technology can open is huge. A developer by the name of Eric Butler soon realized he could develop something easily that could read and hack public transit fare systems. Sounds illegal i know. This is just one of many many possibilities that Near Field Communications can provide.

The flood will continue here, but you'll soon be seeing the same thing happening around the web. Why? Because this year's Game Developers Conference has been gifted with not only Nexus S phones, not only Google Chrome OS-powered CR-48 laptops, but brand new XOOM tablets as well!

Android 2.3.3 update for Nexus S changes default color temperature

If you are the user of the Nexus S and you have applied the latest update to your device you may have noticed something a bit different in the way the screen looks. Apparently, the 2.3.3 update that Google offers for the Nexus S changes the default color temperature of the device.

Gingerbread update adjusts colors in Nexus S

Nexus S users enjoying the pure Google experience may find the colors a bit muted after upgrading their OS to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Additionally, some users are complaining that colors seem washed. Google says that the colors in the Gingerbread update reflect an adjustment to the color temperature settings. The adjustment makes the Gingerbread UI darker which directly affects how the colors themselves are perceived.

With the ever so changing and continued development by the amazing TeamDouche Developers, CyanogenMod is always improving. They add things daily and push nightly builds for all you crack flashers like myself. With the quick development we at times run into issues where things like MOD's or Morphs don't work or are outdated. It's good they move so fast, but a bad thing for those that like to personalize their Android phone. Those that follow some of the pulldown status bar mod's for CM7 I'm sure you all know who @rorifree is. If not, he is the man behind this great looking MOD.

Google's warning that the OTA Gingerbread update for the Nexus S and Nexus One might "take a few weeks" to reach all owners was a dash of unpleasantly cold water to the face; happily, xda-developers have dropped by with a hot towel. They've dug up the official links from Google for the Android 2.3.3 update, which means the impatient can now update their handsets without waiting for Google's schedule to notch along. Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Update Includes WebM Support [What is WebM?]

As you may already be well aware, the Android 2.3.3 update for Nexus S and Nexus One has indeed gone out today for the greater good of humanity. What you might NOT know is that this update includes WebM support. What is WebM? It's a relatively new media file format designed specifically for the internet. What a WebM file consists of is VP8 video codec and Vorbis audio codec compressed audio streams. Well wait, what does that mean? Let's break it down.

Nexus S and Nexus One Gingerbread 2.3.3 update going out OTA

Google has begun pushing out Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread updates to the Google Nexus S and Nexus One. According to the official Nexus Twitter account, the over-the-air updates have already started, but users should be patient since it "may take a few weeks for OTA to complete." The update will be incremental for the Nexus S, but the Nexus One's first official taste of Gingerbread. We've just checked one a Nexus One in the UK, and there's no sign of new firmware being available, so it seems we'll have to be patient (or wait for someone to offer a side-loading version of the official ROM, of course).
