CyanogenMod 9 beta comes to Galaxy S, alpha for Nexus S
We love us some custom ROMs here at Android Community, and perhaps none more than the venerable CyanogenMod. Steve Kondik and his team announced that they would begin on version 9 just after the Ice Cream Sandwich source code became available. While a full-feature release is still months away, you can try out an early version right now if you own a Galaxy S (international version) or Nexus S.

Nexus S and Nexus S 4G get early Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs
Those lucky Nexus owners, they get everything sooner. In this case, it's a relatively stable AOSP version of Ice Cream Sandwich for the previous generation of Google's developer phone. The ROM is available for eager Android fans right now - the only thing that appears to be missing is a reliable video record function.

Galaxy Nexus Hands-on and Unboxing
What we've got here is the Galaxy Nexus, Google's hero device for their next-generation Android operating system version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich - manufactured by Samsung and made to exemplify the most basic flavoring of the next step in the software series. What you'll find when you hold the device in your hands for the first time is that it's essentially a cross between the most recent models of Samsung Galaxy S II and the last Google hero phone, the Nexus S, also manufactured by Samsung. Of course there's little room for error with Samsung hoping to keep up their standing with Google and Google hoping to keep up their standing with you, the consumer, so what's it going to be? You'll find right away that this little monster truly takes the cake.

Ice Cream Sandwich SDK ROMs already in the works
Ideally, ROM developers wait for the open-source, AOSP version of the latest Android release before building a new ROM. But there is something of a work-around: industrious programmers can take pieces of the SDK and cobble together a working phone or tablet ROM. A good example is the various community-authored versions of Honeycomb based on its Software Development Kit. Now preliminary versions of Ice Cream Sandwich based on the recently-released SDK are already making their way onto the Nexus S.

Google Wallet launches officially on Nexus S 4G
It's the 4G version of the Nexus S that'll receive the update to Google Wallet first, Google tells us, this brand new NFC-based electronic payments system working with Visa, American Express, and Discover right out of the gate. This system will allow you, as you may already know, to tap your device to an in-store payment device and instantly pay your bill with your "Wallet". Your update to full alpha Google Wallet functionality will occur in an over-the-air manner, meaning that if you've got a Samsung Nexus S 4G, you'll be seeing a notification right away immediately if not soon.

Nexus Prime Confirmed again via Unlisted Samsung Code
When it comes to leaked information about Android devices, the name Nexus (or Nexus Prime in this case) ranks up there with ravenous hoards of Android-based automatons bent on the destruction of the human race - and Nexus isn't going to kill you, so that's saying something! What we've got today is another leak of information from Samsung on their upcoming device very likely called the Nexus Prime. What this magical mystical future device is said to be holding is the first and most vanilla flavored Ice Cream Sandwich of them all, and today Samsung has been discovered to be hosting a webpage that all but confirms the handset's existence.

We have seen a few luxury brands in the past release some awesome smartphones but this one might just be one of the better ones we've seen yet.
