Google TV update will bring Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean

Google TV wasn't mentioned during the keynote today, however there is some related news. Following the keynote, Google announced that Google TV would be getting an update. The update will be arriving sometime in the "coming months" and will bring Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean along with the latest version of Chrome. Aside from simply announcing a new update, Google also released some details about future updates including those from TV OEM partners.

ASUS Cube Google TV availability pegged for April 24

ASUS originally unveiled the Qube Google TV set-top box back in January during CES. At the time they offered some details, but left the pricing and availability as a mystery. Since then though, we have heard very little about the Qube. That is, until now. It seems the ASUS Qube is going to be available rather soon, except as of now it seems to have been rebranded as the ASUS Cube.

Google TV Custom Recovery sneak peak video released

It looks like the folks over at GTV Hacker have been busy lately. In fact, they have recently released a teaser video for their Google TV Custom Recovery software. And just to give a quick once over here, the recovery software will allow users to do things such as install an update from USB, perform a factory reset, check the system information and reboot the system.

Google TV updated with voice search and more awesome goodies

Google has announced some awesome improvements to its Android-based Google TV service. The service has been out for around two years now, and while it hasn't quite taken off the way Google may have hoped, it is slowly gaining traction, and nice updates like this should attract more people to it. The new update adds voice search and a rebrand of the movies & TV shows section now called “PrimeTime.”
