Google released a pretty massive update that completely overhauled their Google Maps application for mobile devices. The new and improved Maps is pretty awesome, although some still miss the old version, but that change was to stay ahead of the competition. That competition being Apple and Nokia.
IDC report has been published and this time around they are talking tablets. The report covers the second quarter of 2013 and while it is showing Apple as sitting on top with a 32.4 percent share of the tablet market, this same report is also showing Apple as dropping year-over-year. More to that point, this same report is showing big year-over-year growth for Samsung and Android as a whole.
Google Play store has outmatched Apple's iOS App Store by as much as 10%. It also showed that Google Play is solidifying it's foothold on emerging markets.
Samsung when it took the latter to court last year. Because now it turns out that two of Samsung's smartphones topped a customer satisfaction survey, beating out three Apple iPhones.
Google recently pulled a new app off of their Google Play Store due to copyright infringement claims from Apple. What was the app? An Android app that emulates the recently announced "Control Center" drawer in Apple's iOS 7. It was a complete copy of the look, feel, and basically every aspect of the upcoming iOS 7 feature, and is now readily available for Android users.
lawsuits between Samsung and Apple might begin anew as the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) junked Apple's claim to the "pinch to zoom" patent. The patent is one of those brought by Apple in a lawsuit against Samsung last year, suggesting possible repercussions on the case.
