T-Mobile Galaxy Note II capable of 4G LTE – could come in future update
The popular Samsung Galaxy Note II is officially available here in the US from the folks at T-Mobile, with other carriers coming soon. We've already been enjoying their new "faux 4G" HSPA+ capable smartphone for a few days but now we're hearing of a little surprise under the hood of the Note II. It looks like the T-Mobile Galaxy Note II could in fact support their upcoming 4G LTE network.

It's that time of the year again where we can expect to see a flow of Q3 revenue and earning reports released. Today Verizon has issued theirs for the past quarter, and lets just say they are still doing fine. This morning Verizon announced they hit double-digit earnings growth and sold over 4.5 million 4G LTE devices.

Today the FCC has just dropped some good news down on the folks at AT&T. We've seen countless spectrum and airwave transfers and purchases as of late, and now AT&T is getting in on even more action after they've been shopping for extra. Earlier this year the FCC allowed them to transfer some spectrum to T-Mobile after the failed merger, and now some unused broadband airwaves are going to get put to use.

LTE in the US costs 10 times more than Sweden
Everyone knows that getting data on a cell phone is expensive. Those hefty cell phone bills build up quickly, and our data plans are a huge part of the large cost. If you consider overage fees for going over your data allotment, the cost can become downright obscene. If you think 4G LTE is expensive, well, you're right, but you will think it's much worse when you realize how much more the US pays for data than other parts of the world.

SoftBank’s plan to purchase 70% of Sprint for $20.1b confirmed
We heard all about SoftBank's desire to purchase a majority stake in Sprint last week, but today, the two companies confirmed the deal. SoftBank will pay out $20.1 billion to take control of a 70% share in Sprint, with $12.1 billion of that going to current Sprint shareholders as consideration for the buyout. The rest of the money - all $8 billion of it - will be given to Sprint as new capital.
