Motorola recently offered a bit about Moto X update plans for those in Canada. Specifically, for those using a Moto X with either Rogers or Fido. The Kit Kat update was on the way to Canada and Motorola made it clear these users would be the first to see a Moto X running Android 4.4.2. Well, it looks like a soak test for a similar update has begun for some in the US.

An update is being sent to select T-Mobile users, and speculation suggests this is a 4.4.2 test. After all, T-Mobile Moto X users already have Kit Kat, it is just they are currently sitting with Android 4.4. The catch here, those who are receiving an invitation to participate in the soak test are also being reminded of the confidentiality.

What is made clear in the invite going to T-Mobile users is that Motorola is “inviting owners of a Moto X on T-Mobile to participate in a preview of a new software release.” Again, given the handset is already sitting with Kit Kat, the belief is this update will bump things to Android 4.4.2.

As for the soak test process, in the past we have seen these take upwards of 4-6 weeks to complete. But as sure as we can say that, we also saw Motorola make quick work of several soak tests in the lead up to the Moto X Android 4.4 update. Bottom line here, US based Moto X users, those on T-Mobile in particular should start paying close attention as an update seems to be fairly close to arriving.
