T-Mobile definitely isn’t done with the mobile industry. It won’t be even if the the “Never Settle” campaign is over, trying to beat the other carriers by being the “Un-Carrier”. T-Mobile is working hard to bring more people new features and its reliable Data Strong network. So far, the brand has reached more than 290 million people in the United States with its 4G LTE network that is said to be blazing fast (is it?).
T-Mobile has been announcing a number of services and features including activation of FM chip, adding more devices to the JUMP! On Demand deals, safe rooting, Advanced Messaging, unlimited data plan, and Simple Choice now covering Canada and Mexico. This time, they’re rolling out T-Mobile Video Calling for those who prefer to see the other person on the screen.
Isn’t video calling a free feature of many messaging apps already? It sure is but T-Mobile is making it available out of the box and without any need for an app. Video calling is readily available from the phone’s dialer on select devices so you can just dial any number and “video call” a contact. This means you can do video calling even without any fast Internet connection. You won’t have to see that annoying “Re-connecting…” prompt or that “Slow Internet connection” message whenever you have poor connection. If the phone detects a slow connection, it will automatically switch to a voice call.
T-Mobile Video Calling is like making and receiving any ordinary calls. No need for apps because the service is available across wireless networks. Not all devices have this T-Mobile Video Calling enabled though. Others who can’t make or receive video calls, you’ll see a grey video call icon instead.
T-Mobile Video Calls is ideal for those who have 4G LTE-capable phone but it can also work over WiFi. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will get the Mobile Video Calling service after updates are released next week but it’s already available on the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+.
Feel free to check your phone’s Settings> About Device> Software Update to see if software updates are already available. T-Mobile plans to enable the Video Calling on more devices before 2015 ends.
