The T-Mobile G2x being pulled from the carriers online store recently spawned rumors that quality issues were behind it. But according to T-Mobile, they temporarily pulled the phone due to inventory constraints. However, they did admit to a having some issues that they plan to fix with an upcoming update. Now a leaked internal document reveals that they’re finally getting more serious about addressing them.

Since day one, the T-Mobile G2x had been plagued with problems such as random reboots, light leakage, and other quality issues. However, T-Mobile says that only a “small percentage” of its customers raised complaints, or in their words “commented about possible improvements.” The carrier did promise that it was working closely with LG to deliver an update to fix those issues.

An internal G2x Issues and Resolutions document surfaced today that shows that T-Mobile is finally trying to address a lot of the quirky problems. But many of the issues are still marked as pending resolution. Hopefully, the upcoming Gingerbread update will fix things. In the meantime, take a look at our G2x review.

  1. When these updates kick in (Gingerbread and LG’s fix), I can’t wait to see if Quadrant scores improve—the most I’ve seen on my device was in the low 2400’s—and to me, that’s not that impressive.

  2. I’m getting 2500-2600’s in quadrant.  I’ve had 3 random shut downs and 1 random reboot in the 2 weeks that I’ve had the phone.

  3. Would be nice if it was an unaltered document.

I am on my third phone and so far they all have the same issue. Random reboot or locking up when charging. So far the phone sucks more than a two dollar whore when the fleet is in town….as does t-mobs customer service.

  4. Hey guyson my G2x some times I get 3 text messages that are actualy seperate parts of one message and the funny thig is theyre no even in order and I’m sure the sender is sending them in one shot.
The message doesn’t have to be long, even a normal message some times looks like this for example:

    setup another meeting.

your help, I will call you again tomorrow to

    Hey man I realy appreciate

Does any body know if this is T-mobile issue or G2x LG?

  5. I get random reboots, today i had to pull battery to restart because phone shut off in my pocket, but would not restart… I have had to do 2 master resets, one on June 4 because it was repeating the LG start up after charging all night, the second one June 22, due to lock up issues that would not resolve…

Tmobile asked about program downloads, and also told me to shut off my phone about every three days and pull the battery once a week… She called it maintenance…

  6. There are several issues:
    1. Random Reboot.
    2. Excessive heat, and if it gets too hot, it locks up (have to remove the battery)
    3. Random battery life.  Lasts anything between 1 day and 20 minutes.
    4. Random disconnect from Blue tooth.
T-Mobile – Please get us a fix fast.  you are making me almost regret going this way and not the iPhone!.

  7. My G2x gets hot and locks up.   Three times in the last two weeks. T-Mobile said they had no knowledge of this, so I mentioned “discussion 265747” (from the pic above), and they told me they’d do an exchange for the same make/model.  I bought mine at CostCo and still have weeks of warrently left, so I don’t know.  My wife and I love our G2x’s…

  9. Im on my third phone, same issues as everyone else. Phone gets.super hot shuts down and does its own factory reset deleting contacts and apps, lock screen, home button and camera stop working, super annoying, I love the phone but it is not worth all the trouble, especially having to deal with T-Mobile.custom service!

    • Iam so glad iam not crazy or maybe I was doing something wrong,Iam on my second LG G2x problems that I have had are overheating issues, drop calls and data speed!!!.I when the phone works its great, I like it but I can’t see why now after owning one why Chet reviews would even compare it to other phones and not just a hot brick.Dual core means nothing iam glad LG lived up to there name LOWER GRADE.

  10. My phone just began acting up about 6 days ago.  It gets very warm, battery won’t hold a charge.  I charge full battery before going to bed, by morning, battery is gone and phone has shut off.  I have called T-Mobile and they sent a replacement phone and it does the same thing.  I installed a new battery and nothing changed.  I have the HTC G2.

  11. G2x is a worthless piece of garbage, i always have problems with it, every night its goes out of control and reboots, i hate that phone so bad that i hope all phone owners get refunded for it,  i wish i haven’t bought this piece of crap in the first place

  13. Anyone think its possible to sue TMobile for fraud?  They continued to have people sign contracts for these phones that they knew did not work properly. I should have known something was up when they STRONGLY encouraged me to buy insurance on my phone in case there was a problem with it. My husband and I are now on our 6th G2X phone.  They will not offer us a comparable phone and yet they want me to pay for their services( which I am only getting a portion of the time because our phones don’t work!)

  14. LG G2x is worst phone I ever had! Constant reboots, freezes, and black screen. Stay away from it. Tmobile doesn’t want to help at all!

  15. I have the G2X and the same problem the phone shuts down when it gets hot. I have been in the middle of important calls / texts and thephone shuts down and it takes awhile to shut back on. this is crazy. Can this be fixed or what?
