More live photos of T-Mobile’s G1 smartphone – the Android-based handset by HTC, otherwise known as the Dream – have leaked. Courtesy of Rizzn at Utterli, the live images apparently come via an internal source at Google, who had been talking with an Android tester.

The tester in question had supposedly been using the G1 as his primary phone, confirming that the device is going through the final stages of testing in real-world scenarios. T-Mobile will be announcing the Android G1 on September 23rd, at an event that Android Community will be Live Blogging.
No new details from the photos, nor any extra leaked specs, and it’s unclear if there is any branding on the G1. What it does show is how much the device resembles the Sidekick, particularly when being used in horizontal mode with the QWERTY keyboard.

Wow, it looks much more polished. The white version looked terrible before, this one doesn't look so bad.

It def. DOES look better. This is not a production model, though, I think. A later version of a prototype, and possibly identical in look to the production models, but look at the bottom of the "kicktail"...

him... This leak has fired my hopes up...

Is it me or does the keyboard appear to be darker??

It does appear to be darker. But in the original photos, it looked metallic, like aluminum maybe... And if it is, will will appear dark or light depending on what there is to reflect in the incident angle. In this case, the light is very diffused on the phone because the person is in the shade of a tree (and it looks cool and awesome where this person is!). Diffused daylight is great for white surfaces, because it really lights up the diffuse reflection. --But if that keyboard is shiny, it has little diffuse reflection, and more specular, which, in this case, can only reflec the person's body or the shaded underside of the tree canopy, perhaps a building he is standing beside, etc...

Anyone else curious to see what's on the screen? I was. Unfortunately, due to the quality of the source, we can't make out much...

It could be the customized android OS SDK...
... it is customizable and open remember ?

No. That IS the same as my screen.
That's where my picture came from. I just rotated/distorted it to square up, and tweaked the levels on it for maximum readability.

This is on the screen - the contact list:

the display looks flush to me also... oh man i can't wait to check one out...

I wonder if the keys will have a metal type feel to them seeing as how the keypad looks metallic.

Its basicly a new touch technology. "Synaptics TouchPad devices work by sensing an electrical property called capacitance." You can read about it here http://www.synaptics.com/technology/cps.cfm

It says something like:
"HT828QZ000..." and his hand is covering the rest.
If you look at the movie from [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PjoOPZcQwQ[/ame]
from a while back, we knew that was prototype hardware he was using, and it has an almost identical (but earlier?) serial #.
Best I can make out it is:
"HT818GZ000403"
Plus, this new white phone doesn't have any branding screen printed on it. So, this is definitely a prototype. I'd say the person carrying it might want to get these pictures taken away/covered up fast, in case this serial # can be traced back to him!
But, again, yeah...this thing looks WAY nicer in decent lighting.

But give it a try:
Does this look like any familiar part of the interface to anyone? Looks like tabs at the top of the screen...maybe its an app. I haven't seen this in the emulator. I did notice a few colorful little icons along the top of the screen I wasn't familiar with either...
Anyone else find any little gems in there?

I can see Androdi having the option of changing the menu left and right - up and down
Rickey - notice the first picture screen - tabs are on the top ... it is a little dark but you can see it and it almost looks the same as your screen shot by NetCom

BTW I find that the calculator in emulator has scientific functions, when you "move" the screen, or when you click on menu when you are in calculator. by marekbecica
