T-Mobile has a G1 360 view emulator that allows you to rotate the new G1 360 degrees to get a really good look at all angles of this device. The 360 allows you to slide the screen up to reveal the full Qwerty keyboard.

The guide tab gives you 4 different options for viewing how the hardware of the G1 works. The first demonstrates how the screen slides up for use of the keyboard. The battery removal shows just how the back of the device is taken off to reveal the battery. Sim Card Insertion shows that in order to replace the Sim Card you must first remove the battery. However you do not have to remove the battery to insert or remove the MicroSD card. This makes accidentally loosing the card a lot easier and opens the opportunity of getting dirt inside the slot.
The G1 emulator is very functional and fun to play with. However many of the applications that require data do not work in this particular example. You can view a demo of incoming calls, incoming picture messages (MMS), incoming text messages (SMS), incoming email or incoming instant message. Using this emulator will really help customers get a general idea of what the device will be like before purchasing it. More discussion can be found at Android Community Forums.
Special thanks to LocrKurgan for bringing this to our attention.

this is by far one of the best G1 emulator I've seen around....just to mess with until you get the real deal in your hands.

the one thing I don't like about taking the battery out or inserting a SIM card is that you have to remove the WHOLE back panel, removing a layer of protection against the camera lens...this is not the best situation because I would hate to smudge it there, and it's probably thin glass that could crack if not handled caefully

Is it just me, or does nothing besides "incoming call" work on the panel on the right? It has buttons for incoming calls, SMS, MMS, IMs, and emails, but I get nothing whatsoever when I click them. ??
-
Only the Incoming call on the right worked for me too but if you click on the buttons on the phone, a lot of them work.

I think it unfinished since T-Mobile doesn't have it on there site yet.

I think they should label this a SIMULATOR not an emulator, imo.

You can't because the keyboard is open and you can't close it put it back on portrait view.

Does anyone know of any specific inconsistancies, mistruths (gotta love the election season), or otherwise things that are just plain WRONG about the emulator? Things that we know for a fact that don't work the way the emulator shows?

I don seem to see "enable GPS" in maps app without going into settings and select Enable GPS Satellites. It seems WM devices have this set very easy. Once in Google Maps - you select menu and then Use GPS - simple and fast. Hopefully this is the same or similar way

Funny, when I tried to start this thread back up so people could see it was working again, you closed it...

here u go!
i think the new design is even betterer. on my tytn (cingular 8525), the slot is on the side with no cover at all. i work construction-roofing\siding etc.. and my phone takes some abuse, in some bad air quality conditions as well. i've never had a problem with my sd card. the sd card has a little click after it goes in all the way, helping to secure it. the G1 has a little door cover, which will help further protect it. by crazythunder
DOES THIS MEAN THE PHONE CAN'T RECEIVE ANYTHING BUT CALLS??!! (Just kidding)
Also, is there supposed to be any sound in this thing? I get nothing... by DesignDawg

i keep turning "my G1" off.

EDIT: I also just realized that they setup the keyboard to output the # associated with the letter you type (IE 1-800-GOOG-411)
...you can type it just like that and it will replace the GOOG with 4664 without you having to look at another phone.
