T-Mobile has announced the latest Uncarrier related changes. This time they will be dealing with the employer rate plan discounts. And rather simply, these will be going away as of April 1st. T-Mobile isn’t going to be leaving these employees without anything, and instead have this latest change as being one that keeps things “simple, clear and transparent.”

According to details coming from the announcement, beginning on April 1st, T-Mobile will shift from offering these employer rate plan discounts and instead begin offering reward cards.

“Beginning April 1, T-Mobile will be moving away from employer rate plan discounts and replacing them with a T-Mobile reward card of $25 each time an employee purchases a new device.”

Given the other changes we have seen courtesy of T-Mobile — this latest doesn’t come with all that much in terms of surprise. We are curious to see how those affected will feel. Or more to the point, how those affected will come out in the end (in terms of how much you were paying before, and after).

Further talk from T-Mobile included how these “old programs were designed to help big carriers close big corporate contracts.” T-Mobile has said they “aren’t playing that game anymore” and this “change is about simplifying wireless for everyone … including employees of small and large companies alike.”

Other recent T-Mobile news included talk of 4G LTE, and how they have plans to begin shifting the 2G/EDGE network to provide increased speeds for more customers. We’ve also seen details about two upcoming flagship releases. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is available for pre-order, and the HTC One (M8) will be available for purchase beginning on April 11th.

  1. so now I’m locked into paying for a phone for 2 years on a plan that’s going to cost me 10% more. That’s shitty, T-Mobile.

  2. This is not an uncarrier move. It stinks of regular carrier activities of bilking more money from their customers. I have to pay $15 more every month, and they only replace with $25 when I get a new phone. Just a money grab.

  3. I just switched from Verizon to T-Mobile now you’re getting rid of my 15% state discount, I just looked at my 3rd months bill & it is $130 and some change which is what I was paying for 2 lines with Verizon w/ 6GB of data w/ my (on the VZW side) 24% discount. I’m switching back to Verizon today. BTW I’ve been waiting since January to get my ETF reimbursed, you can keep it.
