Sony Xperia Z2: hands-on from MWC 2014

With the Sony Xperia Z2, what you get is far more than the sum of its parts. The flagship smartphone from Sony is easily one of the better devices around, and has one of the best mobile cameras you’ll find — including dedicated devices. Does it keep pace with the Xperia Z1 we fell so hard for last year? We go hands-on at MWC to find out!

The overall styling hasn’t changed much, with a metal/glass casing all around. Unlike some other glass shells, Sony’s Xperia devices don’t crack when you look at them wrong, so don’t worry about it being sturdy. It’s also exceedingly light, and feels nice in-hand. All tolled, the Xperia Z2 is still the classiest Android phone you’re going to find.

Updated specs will keep the geeks happy, too. A Snapdragon 801 and Adreno 330 keep you rolling, and 3GB RAM makes just about everything a breeze. Sony’s UI remains pretty svelte, too. The camera speaks for itself. At 20.7MP, with a slew of new features and tweaks, we think the photography buffs out there will have a field day withe the Xperia Z2.

Check out the video below, which comes to us courtesy of sister site SlashGear. For us, the Sony Xperia Z2 is likely the cream of the Android crop, but the show isn’t over yet. We’re on the ground at MWC 2014, so be sure to come back for all your mobile coverage needs. We’re still digging up gems all over the place, as the show has just kicked off.

Not that I don’t think the Xperia Z2 is excellent, but megapixels aren’t the whole deal with great phone camera.
