We have seen talk of the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini before, as both the Z1 F and the Z1 S. The former has been officially announced and will be available in Japan by way of NTT DoCoMo. For today though, a recently discovered FCC filing is showing the Xperia Z1 S with the codename of Anami.

This of course, is in keeping with the earlier Honami codename, which was the Xperia Z1. This filing had the handset listed as the Sony D5503 Anami and while there was the sketch seen here — it did not include any images of the handset in testing. There also wasn’t much in the way of spec details. That isn’t all that surprising and for that, we look towards earlier rumors.

Earlier rumors were suggesting a 20 megapixel camera and a Snapdragon 800 processor. There isn’t any guarantee the Z1 S specs will mirror those of the Z1 F, however we can look towards that model for some official details. Specs for the Japanese Z1 F include a 4.3-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and the 20.7 megapixel rear-camera with Exmore RS sensor.

Otherwise, this filing did show some specifics for network support and there was mention of HSPA and LTE. This key with all this, just because we have seen an FCC filing — that doesn’t guarantee we will see an announcement or release. Still, Sony does have something planned for CES and in fact, they have already announced an event to take place in Las Vegas on January 6th.
