It was a few weeks earlier when Sony announced that Jelly Bean was rolling out to the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra. Perhaps more important though, that news came with a bit of teasing about how the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update rollout for the “remaining” Sony Xperia devices was “right around the corner.” Well, it looks like that day has come and Sony has announced Jelly Bean for four additional devices.

This time around the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will be getting Android 4.3. To that point, Sony has also said the rollout has begun. As always, the catch with that — the “timing and availability may vary by maker and carrier.” Or in other words, just because Sony has begun the rollout — that doesn’t mean it is necessarily ready for your specific carrier branded device.

Anyway, the update brings Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which Sony has offered the reminder — means the smoothness that comes along with Project Butter. Along with the bump in Android version number, there are also quite a few Sony specifics included with this update. To begin with, it looks like the Sony Smart Social Camera (which launched with the Xperia Z1) will be coming to these other devices.

As well, the Sony Media apps including WALKMAN, Album and Movies as well as the native Sony app collection are getting updated to the latest versions. Those native apps include Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, Sony Select and more.

Otherwise, the update also includes an updated Battery STAMINA Mode as well as Xperia Themes and according to Sony, “the latest in Android security enhancements, matched with Sony’s mobile enterprise solution: Xperia in Business.” Bottom line here, if you have any of these four devices you should be on the lookout for an udpdate notification and/or further details from your specific carrier.
