Sony PS4 Remote Play

Those who’ve been dreaming of having PlayStation 4 Remote Play on their Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablets can finally sleep at because the previously exclusive feature on the Z3 series is coming to other Xperia models. No formal announcement from Sony has been made yet but there’s a reference over at an Xperia Loung app page saying the functionality will be available on the Z2 and Z2 tablet starting November 2014.

This development was something expected. It was only a matter of time before Sony brings the feature to the Xperia Z2 line because there is not much difference between the Z3 and Z2 models. We just don’t know when will Sony rollout the update for the Xperia Z2 but we’re guessing when the latest Android 4.4.4 is released for the series. We won’t wait for the Android 5.0 Lollipop version because we know it might take a while.

Sony could have accidentally posted the information on the Xperia Lounge app page but it’s a good mistake. Sony Xperia Z2 phone and Sony Xperia Z2 tablet owners would like to hear. It will be available immediately after the official launch of the new feature next month. The PS4 Remote Play allows streaming of games from the PlayStation 4 and the controller to a compatible Sony Xperia handset. This means you can play games you would normally play on the PS4 right on your Sony tablet or phone.

We’ve been hearing Sony PS4 Remote Play feature being ported to Android so this piece of news is not really surprising. Some genius managed to port the feature on other Xperia devices albeit unofficially. As long as you have a rooted device and understand all the codes and tweaks, you can start streaming PS4 games to your Xperia unit. If not, just wait for Sony’s official release.
