Now that the cat, or should we say cats, are out of the bag, you’re probably having a hard time deciding if you should get a Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge, or that modular LG G5. The South Korean tech giants sure know how to mess excite our lives especially during the annual MWC. For hardcore Android users, it can be hard to choose which next smartphone to get but it will always depend on one’s preferences. Each model is ideal for a certain purpose and while the LG G5 is good for “play with Friends“, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are great for taking photos even in low light conditions.

This particular imaging benefit is made possible by the camera sensor installed on the phones. However, our hopes of a BRITECELL sensor have been crushed as Samsung decided to use a Sony IMX260 sensor instead. We’re guessing the company isn’t ready yet with new technology so it went ahead with the Sony sensor. We noted already that Samsung didn’t add more megapixels but rather chose bigger pixels, larger aperture, and better autofocus.

Samsung didn’t specifically note the fact that it used a Sony IMX260 because last year’s Galaxy S6 series and Galaxy Note 5 used a Sony IMX 240 sensor on the rear cameras. So yes, there’s still no BRITECELL for the latest Galaxy S7 lineup but maybe on the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 and Galaxy S7 edge+.

When it comes to audio quality, Samsung is said to have used its own audio chip known as a “Lucky CS47L91 Sound”. The ‘lucky’ reference could be related to Project Lucky–the codename for Galaxy S7 when information first surfaced. We don’t know much details about this new audio chip but it seems to be exclusive for the Galaxy S7. We’re expecting high-quality sound from the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge because they are premium flagships but we have yet to do a more comprehensive review of the smartphones.

For now, we have our hands-on feature plus initial comparison reviews of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge–against each other and against last year’s Galaxy S6.
