Sony and IFTTT working together on a project is nothing new. In fact, the two partnered last April for new recipes for wearables. The web-based service ‘If This Then That’ that connects apps and services with the aim of automating digital activities has started working again with Sony to provide users a better control of the the Lifelog API via an activity tracker.

After a few months of work, you can now connect your Lifelog Channel and integrate them with any of those 195 IFTTT channels to create automated digital actions. Channels include popular sites like Twitter, Facebook, Google Driver, Twitter, Flickr, and Sony’s Lifelog. The idea is for Lifelog to do a certain action once an activity is achieved. Say for example, LifeLog has counted a target number of steps, Facebook would share that automatically as a status update. This saves the person from personally doing an action because Lifelog and IFTTT have already finished the task as simple as posting an update to social networks.

The Lifelog recipes take advantage of the Lifelog API to do the following: post a tweet once a calorie goal is achieved, get daily Lifelog activity on email as a summary, and keep track of calories burnt and then send to Google Drive directly so you can track them on a spreadsheet.

Sony’s Lifelog API for lifestyle data capture can be used in other apps or services. It’s secure in keeping track and sending important fitness, lifestyle, and health data made possible by sensors in wearables or smartphones. If you’re a developer, you can check out the Lifelog API on this developer page and start using it. Who knows, you might probably create the next big app out there.
