The news is already starting to pour out of IFA and Sony Ericsson has just announced their new flagship Android offering, the Xperia Arc S. We can expect to see this new flagship phone debut this October and while the details are still pouring in we do have some pretty impressive hardware specs for you after the break.

The Xperia Arc S will feature a 4.2″ LED screen with Sony’s “Reality Display” technology. Boosted with a 1.4 Ghz Snapdragon processor, 8.1 MP camera as well as what Sony is calling 3D and 2D sweep panorama photography. You can shoot photos or video then use HDMI out and view the content in full 3D on your HDTV.

The Xperia Arc S will also ship with many of Sony’s increasingly popular services such as Music Unlimited, and Video Unlimited for all the streaming of digital content one would ever need.

Nikolaus Scheurer, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson said: “Xperia™ arc S is the fastest and most entertaining Xperia™ to date and it clearly demonstrates how the Xperia™ family are the best smartphones to experience great entertainment services such as Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited.”

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is up to 25% faster than the previous generation and will be the best Xperia device yet. All powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread. So far we don’t have any actual pricing or availability, but Sony has said it will be available later in the year and possible as soon as October.

  1. The best Xperia device only packs a single core processor? While the SGSII goes for 1.5Ghz dual core? And Sony always overpriced their Ericsson phones? Who in the hell would buy this? “25%” faster than previous gen. phones….show proof….probably isn’t even faster than my HTC Sensation….

      • Xperia arc s has single core processor!!!! for god sake!!, the galaxy s 2 is faster,  i quess even my samsung captivate is faster !!

      • It’s faster if applications support multi-threading, such as the UI. For most apps, they rely on one processor only, so the Arc might actually win some tests. I’d still prefer the arc over duo cores though (battery drainage issues). Even the Iphone4 S right now has severe battery issues (my friend got one from an apple store in NY)

    • Galaxy SII has a 1.2Ghz dual core processor, the Sensation also has a 1.2Ghz dual core processor, the Sensation XE has a 1.5Ghz dual core processor, and iPhones operate at 900mhz, so really, at least this, it’s previous incarnation, and even the one before that was better than an iPhone 4 :/

  2. I’m waiting for the secondary camera for video calling. All other features are full filled. If they put xenon flash best camera quality will achieve while compare with satio and nokia N8. Very worthfull mobile with Android OS.

  3. No dual core, no 1080p recording, and still thicker than a Galaxy SII yet costs near enough the same, yeah, it is better than an iPhone 4 with camera, processor and features, so was the one before, and the X10 which was released over 1 and a half years ago, but it is still being made of the worst, most tacky plastics on the planet, it might as well be made out of recycling happy meal toys, feels that way anyway :/ Still, I’d rather have this than an iPhone 4, whichever way you drop it, it’s gonna crack, at least this wont (glass backs is just plain stupid)
